Today’s blog post is pretty exciting… I’d like to introduce you to our guest poster today, my mom! (Otherwise known as CarCar.) She is one of the most stylish moms I know! A couple of readers requested this post, and we thought it might be helpful to see her reviews from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (which opens to the public TOMORROW!), and not just mine.
Without further ado…
Hello everyone! Let me begin by introducing myself in case you don’t know how I am. I’m Caitlin’s mom and usually am on the other side of the lens as photographer. I have been on the blog a few times but it’s been a while and if you haven’t been following Southern Curls & Pearls for very long, you might not have seen me. I’m excited to be here today! I found some really cute pieces from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and it has me ready for the cooler weather that will be here in a few months. Fall was never my favorite season before, but finding cute clothes goes a long way to making it more enjoyable, haha!
Item: Lush V-neck crepe blouse in “cordovan” Review: I’m wearing a size small in this Lush blouse and really love the color! I saw these blouses in the store last year and Caitlin had a few as well but I never tried one on. I’m really glad I did this year because the cut and color are flattering and I can dress it up with slacks or a skirt. It’s a really great basic blouse for your wardrobe, regardless of what age you are. Price: $27.90, marked down from $42
Item:Paige skinny jeans Review: The jeans are what I’m really excited about. Good fitting jeans are hard to find and these are my new favorite! The sales associate recommended these Paige jeans as being good for all body types (she actually had on a pair and said they were her favorite too). You may recognize them from Caitlin’s review post because we both got the same pair! They are the most comfortable jeans I have and the dark wash is very slimming. The only negative I’ve found is these is the color may transfer and stain a tan handbag (or light colored booties, which happened to me). Maybe after the first few washes it wouldn’t happen again! Price: $99.90, marked down from $189
Item: Caslon stripe pocket top in “heather grey” Review: This sweater by Caslon is really light and I’ll wear it now and in the fall (it looks cute with white shorts for now!). I love stripes and the color is a really soft neutral grey. The fit runs a bit large so I sized down to an extra small. Price: $28.90, marked down from $39
Review: I was really happy to find this green sweater by Trouvé. It’s a good weight, not too thick and not too thin, and very soft. It’s a little shorter in the front with side slits in the hem that keep it from being boring. I love it alone or paired with this cute scarf for when I want to change it up. It fits true-to-size, so I got the small.
Review: This blanket scarf is so so cute in person, and you can’t beat $24. Instead of being shaped like a huge square, this one is more rectangular and easier to wear.
Review: This sweater by Treasure and Bond is one of my favorites. It has a nice oversized fit. I found it to run a little large so I purchased the XS, and it does come a bit low so I felt more comfortable with a tank on underneath. It requires hand washing since it’s 5% cashmere, so that could be a con – but the pro is that it’s EXTRA soft and not itchy at all. I also tried this on with white jeans and thought it was super cute. It also matches perfectly with the booties and bag I purchased from the sale.
Review: I loved the length and roomy fit of this BP plaid top (I purchased the XS). It come in six different plaid patterns online. I think it would look great paired with the wine colored cardigan (below) and leggings with over-the-knee-boots.
Review: True to size, wearing size small. This is a great basic tee to wear alone or layered underneath cardigans and sweaters. The white is not see-through (I have it on alone in the pictures above!). I love it for it’s versatility, I even wore it tucked into a summer skirt to visit Caitlin the other day.
Review: True to size, wearing XS. I really love the burgundy color of this cardigan, I can see myself wearing it all fall and winter long. The length makes it really comfortable and cozy (hits right above the knee). It would look really cute over a plaid top!
Review: I prefer booties with a lower heel, so these are perfect for me (these have a two-inch heel). They are a gorgeous grey color with fringe on the side. The fit is true-to-size. They match perfectly with the Sole Society “Ravin” tote that I also purchased from the sale!
Price: $99.90, marked down from $169.95
Item:Vince Camuto “Feina” booties in “khaki suede” Review: These booties I purchased are the same ones that Caitlin also purchased and has been wearing. I’m glad she didn’t mind me getting the exact same ones because I fell in love with hers (twinning!!). I went with my normal size in the booties. They go with every single outfit and are the perfect neutral color! Price: $99.90, marked down from $159.95
Review: I borrowed Caitlin’s UGG boots for one of the outfits in this post, and now I want them! My feet are always cold in the fall//winter and these boots have shearling underneath the toes that not only keep your feet warm, but also make the boots very comfortable. I want boots to look cute, but my number one concern is comfort!
Review: This Sole Society bag is SUCH a great deal! The price after the Anniversary Sale is $59.95, but it’s on sale for less than $40 right now. It’s a large bag and perfect for day-to-day errands and throwing ALL my stuff in for running around town. I will probably travel with it, too. The color is a neutral and was a good match for both pairs of booties I bought – I’m not sure why the color is called “tan shore” because it is really more of a light grey color.

She found the jeans to be true to size! She actually tried on one size up in the jeans and they fit her, but the sales associate told her to go with her normal size because they tend to stretch a little bit when you wear them. We didn't size up in the boots, they fit perfectly with normal socks. If you're planning on wearing super thick socks with them, size up a half size!
