Life Updates

Good morning, loves! I figured it was time for some life updates. First I’ll update you on what I’ve been wearing… but read on to the end of the post to learn about my love life & my big move!
First, I am super in love with this PJ set I found at Forever 21 the other day. I have gotten to the point where I need coffee every morning to wake up… so these pajamas are right on point. And they are comfy, too!
This weekend I helped Kohls announce their new campaign on Instagram, Find Your Yes! It’s all about finding your “yes” moment, whether that’s finding this Lauren Conrad mint top in stores (ahem) or simply finding $20 in the pocket of your jeans. But I really am obsessed with this top!
Another “yes” moment… finding this bright blouse and a nail polish that matches perfectly.
Some new spring essentials… I love EOS brand and was so excited to try out their new hand lotion! The verdict: it’s moisturizing, smells divine and fits perfectly in my purse.
Next, I splurged on a new pair of wedges that are really, really freakin’ comfortable. The pink nylon bag is Kate Spade but only available at the outlet store!
GiGi New York has just come out with the cutest little pocket notebooks you’ve ever seen. I adore how they come with your initials printed on them! I keep this little notebook tucked in my bag so I can cross off my to-do list on-the-go.
I am really, really, really ready for spring summer weather. Crop tops and shorts… bring it on! I took this photo last week in my room while daydreaming about summer weather and sunshine.

My boyfriend and I celebrating his birthday!

So, as you can see from the picture above, my boyfriend (Chris) and I are back together. We took a break for about three months after a tragedy in his family. I’m not lying when I say that those three months were some of the hardest in my life! Going through a break-up is never, ever easy… but our circumstances made it even harder. Chris needed time to grieve over a loss in his family, while I thought my world had ended because I had lost “the One” – the boy that I believed I would spend the rest of my life with. I had to rely on God so much to get me through every single day. It was during this time that I realized I couldn’t depend on others, especially a boyfriend, to make me happy. It was also during this time that I decided to leave Greenville, SC, and move to Charlotte, NC. There were a lot of factors in my decision to move, but mainly I wasn’t happy in Greenville anymore, I wanted to be closer to my family, I wanted a new adventure and I wanted to rely on God fully… so I moved!

I honestly couldn’t be happier that I did. I have loved discovering Charlotte as a city and meeting so many new friends (and bloggers!). Eventually, Chris and I started talking again (in February) and decided that we both didn’t want to live without each other. As happy as I am now, I am also so thankful for our time apart. Even though it was hard (and there were days I didn’t feel like getting out of bed), I learned so much about myself during that time because I was held accountable for my own happiness.

Not to end on a depressing note, but if any of you girls are going through a break-up (or just a hard time in general) please feel free to email me! I have been in your shoes and can tell you a little bit more about my experience. Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!

  1. I'm so happy that you two are back together again Cait! & I had no idea that you moved to Charlotte! My best friend is going to pharmacy school there & we've already started planning my trip up to visit her while I'm in grad school in Tallahassee. We will definitely need to meet up if it happens. πŸ™‚ xoxo

  7. I noticed in one of the pictures that your nails were orange and your toes were another color. I always wonder if it's "okay" for fingernails and toenails to be a different color, as long as they compliment an outfit. What's your stance?

  8. When I saw yall’s pictures together the other day I figured you were back to together and I’m so happy for you! πŸ™‚ I’m only sad you weren’t in CLT when I was living there. Essie Tart Deco is one of my favorite spring polishes!

  9. I am so happy for you and Chris, and I couldn't agree more with being in charge of your own happiness! I am just finding that out this year and I have realized just how important it is that we be able to make ourselves happy. I love your PJ set by the way!

  10. Break ups are certainly hard! But I've also realized how important it is to be happy by yourself, and then to be happy with someone else! Thankful for a boyfriend who has helped me realize that it's okay to be independent! xo!

  11. Target has wedges nearly IDENTICAL to those for like $30 right now! And those pj's are ADORABLE.

I'm glad to hear you guys worked things out. I wasn't around for the break-up, as I'm a relatively new reader, but having happiness and love in your life is just as important as having God (though, he provides both!).

  13. Thank-you so very much for your honesty in this post!! I have been going through a really hard couple of weeks (not break-up related, but still rough). I decided this week to take a couple days off from my blog and instead focus on school and my faith, as sometimes I think I need to remember that real life comes before my blog. πŸ˜‰

So happy for you and your sweet boyfriend!! You two make a wonderful couple. And so glad you're loving Charlotte!! I love it here so much that I recently decided to stay at school over the summer. πŸ™‚

  16. You go girl. I hear you. My long time boyfriend (9 years!!!) and I went through a year period where he wanted to stay together but he wasn't sure if he wanted to marry me. We are always honest but this was something that was incredibly hard to hear. One night I just had this urge come over me, and I asked him to marry me and he said yes. A total God thing. I felt it was right because I had been praying for so so so many days that that would happen and it would be the right thing for us. I'm so happy that you have loved and felt lost because it makes you never take it for granted again. Cheers to you and your new adventures with your love!!

I'm from California but I currently live in New Bern, NC and would love if you hosted a bloggers meet up because I've been reading your blof for a few months now and I love it, and would love to meet you and other bloggers in NC! xoxo

  36. Love your honesty in this post and I'm so happy for you! I totally agree that sometimes you need your "single girl time" to figure out yourself and your life before you are ready to spend the rest of your life with someone else! It's great to hear you're enjoying Charlotte too, isn't it so fun to explore a new city?! On that note, you should come explore Charleston some time! πŸ˜‰

  38. I am sorry to hear about the hard time your boyfriend went through with a loss in his family and I'm sorry you guys had to endure a painful breakup. You're right, breakups are never fun, no matter how long you have been dating, or what, they just suck. I'm glad you were able to get back together though! That's good and I hope you are enjoying your time together again! Also, YAY to Charlotte because I would really love to meet you this summer when I'm there for my friend's wedding!

  44. After being in relationship with morgan for seven years,he broke up with me, I did everything possible to bring him back but all was in vain, I wanted him back so much because of the love I have for him, I begged him with everything, I made promises but he refused. I explained my problem to someone online and she suggested that I should rather contact a spell caster that could help me cast a spell to bring him back but I am the type that never believed in spell, I had no choice than to try it, I mailed the spell caster, and he told me there was no problem that everything will be okay before three days, that my ex will return to me before three days, he cast the spell and surprisingly in the second day, it was around 4pm. My ex called me, I was so surprised, I answered the call and all he said was that he was so sorry for everything that happened, that he wanted me to return to him, that he loves me so much. I was so happy and went to him, that was how we started living together happily again. Since then, I have made promise that anybody I know that have a relationship problem, I would be of help to such person by referring him or her to the only real and powerful spell caster who helped me with my own problem and who is different from all the fake ones out there. Anybody could need the help of the spell caster, his email: drbhabumenrespellhome@gmail.com you can email him if you need his assistance in your relationship or anything.
