A Look Back at 2013

 In so many ways, 2013 was the best year of my life. I built a life in a city where I knew no one, gained a ton of professional experience in public relations, made new friends, did my taxes for the first time, dyed my hair dark, visited NYC, and learned a lot about relationships and life. I also went through major heartbreak... but because of it, I learned just how strong of a person I am. In 2013, I also dedicated more of myself to my blog. I learned to persevere, to work hard and not to be scared to dream big

From the bottom of my heart, I thank all of you who visit this little blog and continue to do so week after week. I love sharing my life with you and I love sharing my outfits with you. In the hardest of times, it is you all that have encouraged me and given me strength! I appreciate each and every one of you, and it's because of you that I know 2014 is going to be the best year yet.

True life: I'm obsessed with elbow patches. Add sequins in the mix and I'm an absolute goner. This sweater from Crystal Feather Boutique is just to die for! I love the fact that the front and back are different colors. It's edgy but classic at the same time... and those elbow patches add the perfect amount of chic (now I'm dying for this dress with the gold sequins!). For this look, I wanted to add a pop of color so I chose YSL lipstick in the color "le fuschia." I only wish I owned a clutch or bag in the same fuschia color to go with it!

This week will be SUPER busy for me. I have a lot to do at work and on Tuesday I'll be traveling to Atlanta for some New Year's Eve fun! On Friday, I'm having a small surgery at the dermatologist in Charlotte. I hate, hate, hate needles and doctors so I will definitely be freaking out a bit! Anyways, what are everyone's NYE plans?

New Year's Eve Ready with Plum Pretty Sugar

Today I'm sharing a little bit of my routine to prepare for New Year's Eve! All of the items I've shown are my favorite makeup products right now. I start by putting on concealer, followed by my it celebration foundation for a matte, flawless finish. (My mom got me hooked on this foundation and it is amazing!) Next is eyes: after mascara, I always apply a little bit of Jane Iredell highlighter to the inside of my eyes for a brightening effect. For New Year's, I will apply these lash accents (instead of the full eyelashes) because they look incredibly natural but they still make your eyes pop. Last but not least, your lips need a little attention! I recently picked up YSL rouge pur couture lipstick in the color "le fuschia." It is so vibrant and it matches my Plum Pretty Sugar robe perfectly!

Which brings me to my next point... you absolutely can't get ready for New Year's without a pretty little robe! I have fallen head over heels for this one from Plum Pretty Sugar. The gold metallic print on this robe is stunning in person!

After Christmas Sales + GIVEAWAY

Happy day-after-Christmas, loves! Although I hate to see Christmas go (I pretty much cry every time we take down the tree), the one thing I don't mind are the after Christmas sales that occur. I snagged this Kate Spade iPad case for myself today. For some reason, the money I receive for Christmas just seems to burn a hole in my pocket. Oops!

Merry Christmas To All!

Merry, merry Christmas to you all, friends! 

Do you have any Christmas traditions? One of ours is dressing up to go to my grandparents' house for Christmas Eve dinner, followed by the candlelight service at my hometown church. We usually start Christmas morning by opening our stockings, eat breakfast (orange cinnamon rolls and mimosas), and then unwrap the presents under the tree. I can't wait to spend the ENTIRE day in my PJs, curled up next to the fire and our Christmas tree. This year will be a little different since my brother isn't home with us (he's studying abroad in Japan). My dad, mom and I all miss him!

Fluffy Sweater Love

At first I wasn't sure what to think about the "furry sweater" trend but now I'm sold. Not only are they cute but they are SO COMFY. This fluffy sweater from Chicwish is seriously the most comfortable thing I've ever put on my body. I feel like it's a big warm blanket! I also picked up this striped one from Chicwish that is perfect with leggings. Now I'm lusting over this ivory one and this elk one (perfect for Christmas).

Also, a big happy birthday to my little brother Chris (if you're reading this!). My "wittle" bro is studying abroad in Japan right now and I wish I could be with him to celebrate his 21st birthday!!

Date Night

Men's Gift Guide + Gobi Straps

Guys can be SO HARD to shop for. I always tell them, "Stick to Tory Burch or Kate Spade and you can't do wrong" when shopping for me, but the same thing doesn't really apply when shopping for them (guys aren't really into the whole designer thing). Winter White + Houndstooth

I am too excited to team up with Chicwish to style some holiday looks this week! This outfit in particular is one of my favorites and can be worn all winter long. I've been wanting a cream coat for years and this Chicwish cream wool coat is seriously perfect (and not that expensive for a wool coat!!). I wore it out on Saturday night and then again on Sunday... oops! I'm also in love with the houndstooth skirt. The material is knitted and pretty stretchy... you can make it high-waisted (like I did) or pull it down to wear it longer. It kind of conforms to your body. And it's super cute!
