Trim the Tree

Hey friends!

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday - I know I did. Although I'm sad Thanksgiving is over, I'm also super excited. As in I can hardly contain my excitement. You know why? Because it means I can officially start decorating for Christmas!

This year, things are a little different since I have my own apartment. As far as decorations go, I'm basically starting from scratch. I went to Michael's on Sunday and bought a Christmas tree. I even built it successfully all by myself
{although I did get some battle wounds in the process!}.

Here's what I used to decorate my tree:

And here's a little sneak peak into how it turned out:

And what do you do with leftover leopard ribbon?

You use it for your wreath, of course!

Has anyone else started decorating their house, too? {Or am I the only crazy one!}

Thanksgiving Outfit

Hi loves!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Mine was spent with family at my aunt's farm in Winston Salem, N.C.

She has a gorgeous little farmhouse right smack in the middle of nowhere. I LOVE it.

Both my top and skirt are from {Fiore Boutique}, which my friend Taylor introduced me to. Y'all. I'm in LOVE with this store.

I saw this lace skirt and simply had to have it. I've been lusting over lace skirts since summer, and I'm excited to transition it into fall and winter looks. I'm picturing it with tights and comfy, cozy sweaters.

Thursday was seriously the perfect day. We ate way too much (I had three different kinds of desserts), played with my cousin's babies, watched some football and got to spend time with each other.

Too often I get in the habit of complaining about all of life's little frustrations and take for granted life's blessings. I desperately needed this day to reflect on everything God has given me.

I am so thankful for this life.

I am so thankful for my friends {that means all of YOU, blogfriends!}

I am so thankful for my family!

Give Thanks!

Right now, I am feeling thankful for big flashy baubles and classy bows.
A little bit like this outfit I plan on re-creating for Thanksgiving...

So classy.

I'm headed home Wednesday night to spend a long weekend with family! Too too excited. I foresee lots of peppermint hot chocolate, TV time, and pumpkin pie in my future. What are everyone's plans?!

Furniture Re-do's

Hey babes!

Ever since I moved into my apartment, I've been dying to take on some furniture DIYs. There are so many ways to turn plain furniture into gorgeous, one-of-a-kind pieces.

For instance, lately I've been seeing a lot of people take Ikea furniture and turn it into something amazing.

Some examples?

This white Ikea dresser gets a chic update with {O'verlays}, an easy way to add patterns to plain furniture:

And this one blows my mind. Take an {ikea vittsjo shelf} and turn it into a gorgeous gold masterpiece with a little spray paint.

I also love the idea of taking the {hemnes bookshelf} and adding wallpaper to the back wall. How chic is this?

Sometimes my favorite pieces of furniture are the pieces that were once old... and made into new. Take a look at this ancient wooden dresser that's transformed with a fresh coat of peacock blue paint:

Simply gorgeous, right?

You can bet that I'll be scouring the local thrift shops this weekend for some furniture in need of a good makeover!

What are your plans for the weekend?

Short & Sweet

Hi friends!

Busiest week of my life. Hence, no time to blog.

Here are some quick updates on my life lately...

I found this gorgeous coffee table at a consignment shop near my house and was able to negotiate for a good price. I love the combination of gold and glass and want it to be a sort-of "theme" for my apartment. However, this is currently the only piece of furniture in my living room! (Nope, I don't even have a couch yet!)

This week was coooold, my friends. I am loving loving loving comfy sweaters and boots!

After ordering {this shower curtain} from Target and being completely disappointed in it (it looked like I bought it at the dollar store!) I finally had some success last night at Pottery Barn and Target.

I went with {this ruffle shower curtain} paired with {this rug} from Target.

Thank the Lord for sweet friends like Taylor, who blogs over at {newest girl in town}. Taylor and I met through blogging, and she recently moved to Greenville as well. I seriously feel like I have known this girl my whole life!!!

In honor of my recent win on ebay (more details to come), some inspiration for your Saturday morning...

Can you guess what I ordered?!

Psssst... how beautiful is this last print?? Find it {here}.

Hope everyone has a great weekend! I promise I'll do a better job blogging this week :)

New Apartment!

Hello friends!

I'm writing to you from my new apartment - yippee!

I can't even tell you how much I LOVE having my own place. I moved in Friday, and even though I literally don't have any furniture for it yet, I'm so happy here. It's a bright little one bedroom apartment with tons of character.
{Don't worry... I will be sharing pictures with you soon!}

Since I've been all about decorating since I moved in, I thought I'd share a sneak peek of some recent buys with you all.

I have been lusting over starburst mirrors for a while now, so I almost couldn' believe it when I found {this mirror} at Home Depot for only $35! It's now hanging over my bed... (I would show you, but I don't have a comforter for my bed yet!)

I picked up {this chevron ginger jar} from Target. It's part of the Nate Berkus home collection (which I'm seriously loving). I can't wait to have a coffee table to put this on!

I also just ordered {this table} of off One Kings Lane for more than 50% off. Isn't it presh? If you aren't a member of {One Kings Lane} and you love house decor, join NOW! Seriously, it's amazing. They constantly have sales on designer items. Leave me your email address and I'll send you an invite!

This was taken today in my new bedroom. As you can see, I don't have a comforter for my bed yet, and I still need to paint some of my furniture. It's definitely a work in progress.

And now for some inspiration...

I'll be back this week with some more fun posts :)
