What I’m Thankful For

Good morning and HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!! I hope every one of you gets to spend time with your family and friends today, and also has the time to truly reflect on the meaning of this holiday. I listened to a podcast a few months ago, and the person being interviewed said that every morning they think of ONE thing they’re grateful for. Just one! It could be as simple as how soft the sheets felt that morning, or it could be that he was thankful for his wife, or something that happened at work the day before. He said that having the attitude of thankfulness every morning really transformed his whole day, and that he approached the day from a different mindset. Thanksgiving is an awesome holiday (umm hello turkey and pumpkin pie hehe) but I’m a big believer that we should practice being thankful more often than just one day a year!

Anyway, I did want to take the time today to write out what I was thankful for. I’m thankful for many things in my life, but especially my husband and family. I remember crying myself to sleep at night in college because of guys – I just KNEW my soulmate was out there somewhere, yet it seemed like boys only broke my heart. I am so very thankful that God lead Chris and I to each other – his timing was perfect (even if it took longer than I would have liked – God has been trying to teach me patience my whole life hahah!) Being married is a whole other ballpark than dating or even being engaged to your  soulmate – with marriage comes stability, trust, the knowing that no matter WHAT happens in this human life, you can always count on that other person. I love being married to Chris, and I’m so thankful that I get to say those words. I’m thankful for my family too – my mom and dad are my biggest support system, and as I get older and we are thinking about having our own kids one day, I realize how special my childhood was, and how it was filled with love. I am so thankful for that. And last but not least, I am thankful for my brother, who came home from Japan this year. His humorous and calm presence has filled all of our lives with laughter and a sense of peace. And of course, he is so talented, and I’m very thankful to get to work with him every day!

And of course, I am always thankful for YOU! Yes, you reading this blog! You make it possible for me to wake up and do what I love every day, and that is create content. Sometimes I’m really overwhelmed that people actually follow my blog and actually listen to what I have to say and even re-create outfits I’ve worn – I hope you know that I never take you guys for granted. I hope you feel that I am your friend, because I consider ALL of you to be mine!

I started following your blog for your phenomenal fashion style but this was an amazing and thoughtful post. I also practice a positive affirmation in the morning which has allowed me to be successful in sales and grow in my personal life. I am thankful for your posts! Happy Holidays.

I started something similar! I read somewhere- that when you start off your day saying “I get to-“ v. “I have to-“ makes a bigger impact!
I enjoy reading each morning! Thank you!

  4. What a beautiful blogpost, this really warmed my heart! 🙂
I’ve recently read something very similar to what the guy on the podcast you listened to described and I have been trying really hard to incorporate this practice into my morning routine and also in those moments where I feel overwhelmed, stressed and as if the whole worlds pisses me off pretty much haha, excuse my language.
Thanks for sharing this, I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

This is such a nice, heartwarming post. This is such a great reminder to be thankful for what we do have and not get discouraged by the things we feel we are still missing. God provides in his own timeline. I think we definitely need to be thankful for our family and friends and never take them for granted! 😊

What are you wearing under the dress? I bought this dress and didn’t realize it was see through online. You look stunning in it!

    • I’m wearing a little skirt slip! I do t think it’s that see-through but we were photographing with the light behind us so that’s why I wore it 🙂

I don’t comment very often (some of us are wall flowers) but this was such a sweet post. Its a nice reminder to be thankful (big or small). Seasons in life change. Sometimes there are big events or things to be thankful for and other seasons are lean but even in those we can find thankfulness and blessing. Hope you all have a beautiful thanksgiving day (we had ours in October).

*sidenote I just love how my southern neighbours celebrate Thanksgiving which launches you into Christmas time. October for us is a little too soon to start decking the halls…

  14. What a sweet post, Caitlin!!! I always knew that you’re such a sweet and genuine person. This may sound cheesy, but I knew that I loved you for a reason and always felt like you were my friend too. You’re always responding to people’s comments, telling your followers where you get things from when they ask you questions, host very generous giveaways (this blogger kit giveaway that includes a coaching call with you is something else!) and really listen to your followers. Aside from being one of your followers, I’ve been watching you on how you conduct yourself as a professional blogger and it’s just SO refreshing.

I wish you all the best for 2019 and seriously can’t wait until you hit 1M followers on Instagram. You deserve all the success in the world. Thank you for being YOU! xo
