Lace Up Dress + Palm Springs Hotel Review

floral lace up dress, similar & less expensive here and here // watermelon straw clutch
Jeffrey Campbell wedges // Karen Walker sunglasses (on sale with code BIGEVENT16)
YSL lipstick in “fuchsia pink” // China Glaze “purple panic” nail polish

First let’s talk about this outfit! Lace-up tops and dresses are super trendy right now (major thanks to Gigi Hadid) and I couldn’t resist trying it out the new style with this cute floral number. I was worried it would appear too “sexy” or look like I was trying to be someone I’m not… thankfully, this dress is very girly, from the colorful print to the ruffles on the sleeves, and it also covers a lot of skin! If you’re looking for a good alternative that’s not quite as expensive, I really like both this one and this one!

Now on to the hotel review… I stayed at The Saguaro during my stay in Palm Springs. To be honest, I was mainly attracted to the hotel due to the colorful walls and beautiful views, and didn’t read any reviews beforehand. Here’s my take…

Rooms: First off, the rooms were huge! We stayed in a room with two queens, and there was a desk, refrigerator, dining table, TV, nightstand, chest of drawers and PLENTY of floor space in the room. As far as decorations go, I loved the bright, colorful beds and doors, and the crisp white walls. Waking up in a colorful room made me really happy each morning! I will say that the walls are kind of thin, though… one night our neighbors were up late and I could hear all of their conversations through the wall.

Decor: As I said, the rooms were decorated beautifully, but so was the rest of the hotel! The door to each hotel room was painted a different bright color, and there were big “towers” located on the four corners of the hotel that looked like cacti and were also each painted a different color. Small potted cacti were placed around the hotel, as well as fun painted walls, strands of lights and tassels, and even a wall of piΓ±atas. The views were astounding, also – from every location in the hotel you could see the towering California mountains in the background.

Location: We drove downtown several times (once for a run to Rite Aid and several times to go out to eat) and found that it was really convenient – the drive to downtown took less than five minutes. The Saguaro also provides shuttles downtown at night. We saw a lot of bachelorette parties getting on the shuttles!

Food: The hotel has an amazing bar located near the front desk called El Jefe – we ate dinner here two nights in a row! The food is pricy but REALLY good Spanish/Mexican cuisine. The guacamole was amazing, as were the chicken tacos. For dessert, you must order the churros – literally the best dessert I’ve ever put in my mouth! Also a word on the drinks – they are very strong. I ordered a margarita and it contained tequila, orange liqueur and a tiny bit of lime juice. Aka, it didn’t taste like a margarita at all!! The room service was delicious as well, and the coffee was strong (I don’t like my drinks strong, but I do like my coffee strong πŸ™‚

Pool: The pool was very large and definitely the “hot spot” of the hotel. During the weekends, it turns into a mini Vegas! There were huge flamingo floats floating around the pool, a DJ mixing music, and a bar serving really fun and different drinks. We didn’t spend a lot of time by the pool, but it seemed like people were getting a little rowdy on Saturday. It’s fun if you want to “party,” but otherwise the pool was not a relaxing place – definitely not a place for kids!

Staff: The staff was amazing… very friendly and welcoming, and seemed genuinely happy and eager to help us. They were always willing and ready to give us restaurant recommendations, menu recommendations, etc.

Conclusion: Palm Springs is a must-visit place in general – if you have never been to the desert, it is beautiful. As for the Saguaro, I would probably not bring my boyfriend there – it wasn’t romantic in the slightest and probably wouldn’t be a great place for families, either. The hotel is a little difficult to navigate and although the rooms were nice and brightly decorated, it definitely isn’t a luxury hotel. It is, however, the PERFECT place to bring your girlfriends for a girls trip or a bachelorette party. The Saguaro is a super fun, trendy hotel with lots of young people and amazing views and food – it almost had a spring break-like atmosphere. And let’s be honest those colorful walls make for some really great instagram opps πŸ™‚
