Our Dream Home Reveal Part 1 | Kitchen & Pantry Design Ideas

Hello, friends! We recently moved into our DREAM HOME, and I realized that I never officially shared the news with you in the blog world! I’ll be breaking up our interior photos into three different posts, but for now, you can find details on our kitchen and pantries (we have a food pantry and a butler’s pantry). I also included a photo of our living room, because the kitchen is SUPER open, and opens up into our living room. I wanted you to get a feel for how our house flows!

When designing the house, I was really insistent that I wanted a lot of natural light and big, open windows. Our architect, Greg Koester, designed the house so that the kitchen and living room would receive light all day long – all of the windows line up directly with the sun’s path throughout the day. There are windows all along the side of the kitchen and in the built-in nook where our kitchen table lives, while the other side has three sets of glass french doors that open out to the backyard.

For paint colors, we followed our interior designer’s recommendation to go with Simply White by Benjamin Moore – this color is used in almost every room of the house! The slightest hint of warmth makes this clean, crisp white a beautiful choice. All of our kitchen cabinets are the same color as the walls, and our hardware is from Armac Martin’s Latchford Collection. We chose unlaquered brass for all of our kitchen hardware. We loved the idea of a “living” finish that would patina over time and build on the authentic, aged feel of the home.

For flooring, we decided to do hardwoods for the main rooms throughout our entire house. We went with 7″ wide long-lengths rustic new French oak engineered hardwood flooring for most rooms. In the mud room, we went with Ann Sacks tile that is nearly indestructible!

All of the countertops in our kitchen, pantry, and butler’s pantry are all different variations of marble. I have never had real marble in a home before, so it has been an adjustment period as we figure out how to clean the countertops. I’ve learned that usually water works best! (A lot of chemicals in cleaning solutions can damage marble.) We are CONSTANTLY wiping down the countertops and we have placemats for the kids, which helps a lot! If you have any tips for cleaning marble, though, I will take them!!

Overall, we are SO happy with how our kitchen turned out – it is truly the heart of the home and where we spend more of our time! We could not have done it without our incredible team: Interior designer Kate Marker, builder Jonathan Lee, and architect Greg Koester.

If you’re looking for links to items to purchase, I will say that a lot of the furniture is custom-made, but all of the chandeliers, light fixtures and accessories can be found here!

Did you know there is a company that can apply a “wrap” to your marble to make it stain/chip free? You can get it polished or natural too. It’s the best of all worlds because no matter how hard you try, you will get water rings if it’s not coated. https://atlantastoneandtilecare.com/marble-protection-more-antietch/

Caitlin- What a beautiful home. Perfect dream home. I especially love the kitchen and dining area. I like cooking in my current home. If I had a home like this I be cooking more. I love the light fixtures too. In office today and sleeping through a work meeting. Can’t wait to have it end. Today’s outfit a mini skirt, with crop top and blazer and ankle strap high heel sandals. After that its a 7 day weekend vacation to celebrate Labor day aka late summer. Plenty of bikini time and exercise time too. Boyfriends birthday on Friday. The house party will be half of the night. Saturday night a dinner birthday party for another close friend. I got my little yellow dress ready with yellow 5 inch high heel sandals all ready. Boyfriend will be wearing something special underwear for me in return. That might be the only time in 6 days that I am wearing real clothes. Getting a mani/pedi with girlfriends after work while he is bowling.
