My Beauty Secrets

One. I start my makeup routine every day by first applying Maybelline’s BB Cream. Not only does it act as a sunscreen, but it also forms a base layer for my foundation. I wouldn’t use it alone, but I absolutely love how it looks underneath my makeup. Another tip is to apply it with the beauty blender – I didn’t believe the hype on this product until I had tried it myself. This egg shaped makeup applicator really does make a difference in how the BB Cream goes on. You have to follow the directions and wet it first, but it blends flawlessly and all you have to do is dab it onto your face. The BB Cream + beauty blender is my favorite beauty combination right now!
Two. I get a lot of questions about my eyelashes and mascara and my secret is primer, primer, primer. I am obsessed with L’Oreal’s Double Extend mascara simply because the primer is amazing. You apply it before you put on regular mascara and it really helps to volumize and extend your lashes. When I want extra thick lashes, I’ll apply the Double Extend primer, followed by Dior’s Diorshow mascara, then finish with the Double Extend black mascara.
Three. These things are amazing and the kicker is that you can only find them at Walmart! Salon Perfect’s eye makeup corrector sticks are basically Q-tips with eye makeup remover already on them. I can’t tell you how many times I smudge mascara on my eyelids, sides of my nose (I’m clumsy) and these corrector sticks make it super easy to clean up. I use one at least once a day.
Four. My two favorite nail polishes for summer. Pixi’s “summer pink” is a neon pink that is very shiny (not matte) and truly is the perfect summer pink – I’ve been wearing it nonstop lately. Essie’s “go ginza” is the perfect pale lilac color that simply looks amazing on – especially with a tan!
Five. I use a little bit of Jane Iredale’s eye highlighter on the inside corners of my eyes to brighten them up. It works like a charm and makes your eyes appear bigger than they are! I use the white side during the winter, but once I have more of a tan I will use the pink side, which complements tan skin.
Six. Not only do my lips get chapped, but when dry skin accumulates it can make lipstick look AWFUL on your lips (gross, I know). They key to not having this happen is exfoliating your lips! I use Sugar Lip Polish about once a week at night to exfoliate the skin on my lips. I try to apply a moisturizing lip balm to my lips thirty minutes before I apply my lipstick (this is my favorite lip balm!).
Seven. The best self tanner I’ve found to date is L’Oreal’s Sublime Bronze tanning wipes. They really do go on streak-free (maybe because they’re wipes?) and it’s a gradual buildup of color, so you can apply them several days in a row. I find that with wipes, it’s easier to apply on my back versus a self tanning lotion. It’s also easy cleanup because you simply throw the wipes away when you’re done!
Eight. As a woman who uses a lot of heat products on my hair, I am always looking for products that protect breakage and heat. I started using this anti-breakage spray a month ago and will never turn back – I spray it on wet hair before I blow dry it. Not only does it have a nice, tropical scent, but I can tell that my hair is softer when I use it too. I’m obsessed!
Nine. This truly is one of my secrets I’ve never shared before πŸ˜‰ Who doesn’t love shiny hair, right? After I’m done styling my hair, I like to apply Umberto’s shimmer shine spray for maximum shine. It really does create a natural shimmer and people always comment that my hair looks shinier when I use this.

In this photo, I’m using Umberto’s shimmer shine spray & wearing Design Darling’s tassel earrings!

For disclosure, no one paid me to write this post, I promise! These are honestly the products that I have found myself, love, and use every day. I love talking beauty, so if you have any beauty questions for me I’d love for you to leave a comment or drop me an email! πŸ™‚

  11. Love this post!! πŸ™‚

I have a question about your mascara. I have also been using the L'Oreal Double Extend for awhile (since November or December maybe?), but I use the one that comes in the red tube. It also has a primer with it. I was wondering if you found there to be any difference between that one and the one that you showed in this post (since this one had gold tube)?? Your eyelashes just always look SO gorgeous, so I was thinking that maybe the one that I'm using just isn't as good? Haha. πŸ™‚

  12. Honestly- this is probably one of the most helpful beauty posts I've read in a while. I follow a ton of beauty blogs and sometimes it's difficult to weed through all of the sponsored posts or items within the posts to really believe if the stuff actually works. The BB blender, and the makeup corrector sticks are two things I did not even know existed, and will definitely look into them. Thank you!
