Fall in the Adirondacks

Good morning from the Adirondack Mountains, you guys! My family packed up the car and made it here at the end of last week, and it’s absolutely STUNNING. We tried to time it so that we hit it right at peak foliage, but I actually think we are a tiny bit late! However there are still pockets of color everywhere, like this little backroad that we found while driving around. 🙂 This is definitely one of my favorite outfits from the trip – I had to size up quite a few sizes to fit my bump into this plaid skirt, but if you’re not pregnant I would order your normal size. It’s less than $25, which is really a steal!

We were aiming to stay in cabins the entire trip (we also brought all of our own food so that we wouldn’t need to go to any restaurants), however you may have seen on instastories that our first cabin had a little rodent problem, haha. On the first night, my mom kept hearing a mouse rustling around in her luggage. We plugged up the hole where we thought it came in, but then the NEXT night… oh gosh. There were quite a few little families of mice running around, haha. My brother and mom were hearing them in the walls and all over the kitchen counters trying to get into the cabinets to nibble on our food! We checked out the next day LOL. We spent a few nights in a hotel, but today we are headed to our next cabin and *fingers crossed* we have the whole cabin to ourselves. 😉

I hope everyone has a great Monday! xoxo

  3. Beautiful photos, Caitlin! You look so cute with your bump! 🙂 This sounds like a beautiful place to take a trip, minus all of the rodent issues you had. Oh gosh, I would have freaked out, haha. I truly hope your next cabin doesn’t have the same problems!

I’m glad you are enjoying and highlighting the ADK – it’s such a special, beautiful place.

I know you are being careful but it’s worth mentioning to your followers that New York State has a 14 day mandatory quarantine for anyone traveling to New York State from any of 35 different states. It requires you to stay in one place and not interact with anyone outside your quarantine. It’s a total pain in the ass for sure. Just mentioning in case anyone else decides to hop in the car and explore the area!

I hope you can make it back to the ADK post covid – Lake George is my favorite! My husband and I were supposed to have our wedding at The Sagamore resort (check it out) but had to cancel because of covid. 🙁

I was simultaneously shuddering and laughing over your mouse Instastories. You did the right thing by packing up and heading out.

I spent the summer in the Adirondacks. Mice were a huge problem. Camps and campers all experienced mice. Stores had to restock mouse trap supplies. Mice aren’t usually so bad. I hoped to make it back up for a fall trip but it didn’t work out. I’m in WNY and it was early fall in leaves changing this year.

  13. Oh my goodness, that mice incident! I still can’t believe that happened to you guys! I’m glad you all were able to get a hotel the next day, although I know that wasn’t what you were hoping for or expecting. I’m sure I would’ve been freaking out over the mice, too, if that were me! haha

LOVE your fall outfit- as always!
