Exploring the Colorado Mountains

Good morning from Telluride, Colorado! My brother and I took our rental car out yesterday to explore some of the mountains around Telluride. It was B-E-A-UTIFUL! The sun was shining, the sky was crystal clear and the leaves are all starting to change to a gorgeous yellow hue – it was pretty magical. We stopped along a particularly stunning section of 145 S to take these pictures. You can see some of the bright yellow trees in the background! It has been really cold here in Telluride (as I’m writing this it’s 45 degrees), so this Free People sweater was the perfect choice for some warmth. I love the chunky knit and the brightly colored chevron stripes. You can easily take it from fall to winter!

My brother and I really want to go on a hike today! If you’ve been to Colorado before, we’d love your recommendations or good hiking trails. 🙂

Love y’all!

I was just in Telluride a few weeks back at the Bear Creek Falls trail was gorgeous! If you do it, definitely make sure to look back as you go since some of the best views are on the way out not the way in! (plus it leaves right from town). I’d also recommend the gondola to get amazing views from above the city.

We hiked a golden gate canyon state park and it was just enough not too challenging but great scenery and had some extra effort options if you want a little more of a workout !

  8. How fun!!! I got engaged on the ski lift in Telluride, so I love it. I’m one of the rare Colorado girls that doesn’t love hiking, but I’m sure you can ask just about anyone in town and they’ll be able to recommend hiking trails. If you have the time, you should drive over to the Ouray area. It’s gorgeous, too.

  10. Hey girl! Enjoy Telluride; we LOVE it there! We would recommend definitely visiting Bridal Veil Falls (CO’s tallest free falling waterfalls) and if you’re in the mood for a hike, Hope Lake. We were just there last weekend and so our blog (www.coloradocouple.com) isn’t fully updated (oops!) but it has a TON of hikes of you’re looking for any outside of Telluride 🙂 Enjoy our beautiful state!!

Rocky Mountain National Park is AMAZING! Last time we went there, we went to Bear Lake and hiked all of the surrounding lakes. It was beautiful. You’ll see a lot of friendly chipmunks. Moose and elk frequent there as well.

Hanging Lake is really pretty! I’d recommend that. I’m not sure where it is in relation to Telluride though.

I have not been to Telluride but I live out in the PNW and we use AllTrails.com for all of our hikes. It rates them by how strenuous they are and you can read reviews on them by people who have done the hikes for more info! Have fun 🙂
