A New Spooky Book for September

Alright I know the title of this post has NOTHING to do with the actual pictures hahah and that’s okay! My Book Club is reading the book “Home Before Dark” for September (if you want to join us this month, you can join our Facebook group here), and I just started it last night. YOU GUYS. I was up until midnight reading cause it’s soooo good! It’s the perfect book for September because it’s about a haunted mansion in the woods of Vermont. Trust me, I have read a LOT of books about haunted houses, and this one is more captivating and just better written. Even if you don’t join the Book Club, I still recommend the book for this time of year!

Anyway, back to the outfit I guess 🙂 I realize that I say this a lot on the blog, but this time I truly mean it: I have found the softest dress I’ve ever worn. I’m serious. This chenille sweater dress does not even feel like wearing pajamas… it feels like you’re wearing a Barefoot Dreams blanket! I’m all about comfort these days, since I’m starting to feel pretty uncomfortable with pregnancy! I know I’m not even that far along yet, but I’m having back pains, round ligament pains and acid reflux haha. Anyway, I linked up all of the outfit details below, and I ordered the dress in a small for size reference!

If anyone has any more spooky book recommendations for September or October, let us know in the comments. xoxo

  2. Unfortunately I know what you mean by round ligament pain. I had trouble even figuring out what it was, but around five months I had to stop running and just became a walker.

    I’ll check out this book!

    Hope you feel better. xoxo

Caitlyn! I always love the books you love, so as soon as I saw your rec, I called my local bookstore to see if they have it and they DO! So I’m buying it today. Can’t wait to start it!

Oo I can’t wait to read that one! I just finished No Exit by Taylor Adams and WOW there were so many twists and turns. I mean until the very last chapter. So good.

Spooky books — “Ghost Story” by Peter Straub. It was a movie in 1981. It’s probably a little dated now, but it was scary when I read it years ago.

These are relatively new books —
    “The Winters” by Lisa Gabrielle
    “Mistletoe” – Allison Littlewood
“The Witches of New York” – Ami McKay
“The Thirteenth Tale” – Diane Setterfield
“We Were Liars” – E. Lockhart
“Rebecca” – Daphne du Maurier – an oldie but still good
“And Then There Were None” – Agatha Christie — another oldie, but very good
“We Have Always Lived in the Castle” – Shirley Jackson — still creepy since 1962

And if you like mysteries that couple a whodunit with exploring human nature try any book in the Chief Inspector Gamache series – Louise Penney. Set in a small village in Quebec

I love this list! There’s a Shirley Jackson biopic out now (called Shirley) that is creepy too. She was a true eccentric.

Do you size up for the bump? 🙂
What size are you wearing for reference? Thanks!

    • I’m wearing a size small! I did not size up in this one, just because it’s a loose/stretchy material 🙂

The Prettiest color dress! Goes perfectly with that bag and booties!! Thinking of ordering this book, but have to admit I’m a little scared to read a super scary book… lol!

Love this dress! I noticed your comment about acid reflux, I had that really bad when I was pregnant too. The only thing that helped was drinking alkaline water only (I drank Essentia water literally by the gallon – you can get a case at BJs or probably Cosco ). It didn’t make it go away completely, but helped so much.

    • Thanks Megan!! That’s a really good tip and I hadn’t thought of that before!

Cute dress and what a great color on you! This might be my Thanksgiving-at-home-with-just-my-husband-this-year dress since it looks cozy and comfortable.

I’m not a huge thriller fan, but I love reading them this time of year–the scarier the better.

This is so cute! And you’re just glowing. I’ve been meaning to ask if you would consider doing a post on off-shoulder chunky sweaters to wear with leggings (or other sweaters, too – you just do that look so well!). Enjoying your fall vibes posts! Thanks 🙂

  18. I personally have that same exact dress and LOVE it! You’re right- it’s truly one of the softest dresses ever and comparing it to Barefoot Dreams is pretty spot on! Sooo soft and perfect for the coming seasons!

I love your posts. You are such an inspiration for me and I have a feeling that you have no idea how much that you speaking and doing everything means to me. You are such a blessing and I love that you are not afraid to share how you feel on the internet where people can see it. I hope that you read this and respond because I am looking for someone to share advice with me on a topic that is really important to me. Congratulations on the Pregnancy!!
