How glam is this “shoe addict” tee?! For this look, I wanted to dress up a simple, comfy tee with some pops of color and statement jewelry. And I mean, you really can’t wear a “shoe addict” t-shirt without also wearing a killer pair of heels… Am I right?! The blue pumps I’m wearing in this post are apart of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale… which means they are a really great price, and they even come in another color. I walked around in them all day yesterday and they are super comfortable. Just be sure to order before Sunday because the price will return to normal on Monday! (And speaking of the anniversary sale, this bag came in yesterday. OMG obsessed.)
To get a little more “real” here, I have been having some problems with anxiety lately. I don’t know what it is, but I constantly have the feeling that something is “wrong” or “off,” and I feel nervous and anxious at all times. Even something really little or trivial can set me off and make me worry all day long. It’s been affecting my sleep (I’ve been having nightmares!) because my mind is constantly racing. Anyways, if anyone has ever dealt with this before I would love your advice!
Happy Thursday, only one more day to the weekend 🙂

I have struggled with anxiety all my life and going to church, reading my Bible and nurturing a relationship with the Lord has helped me in tremendous ways. Praying for you! xo

Love Love Love this top! I am sorry to hear about your anxiety, I know it hits me when a lot of things happen for me at once, that are out of my control. I love to have my t's crossed and my i's dotted. I find what helps me is to organize the parts of my life that I can and to be the best person I can be, this way, I know I have done all that I can, and it calms my nerves. I hope you find a remedy, because it sure can damper things.
Cheers, Monique

Philippians 4:6-7, my favorite. I love all kinds of music but when I'm feeling anxious, it helps to play praise/worship music that speaks truth and encouragement. Only God can make you feel as put-together as you look. Best to you 🙂
You look amazing! :)) Fashion Passion by Erika
I have experienced what you are going through. It happens when things seem to be going good, but something is trying to make it seem otherwise. Prayer, Prayer is what has helped. Will be praying for you.
Love your blog!
Obsessed with this casual chic look! I love that you matched your shoes and clutch, and that vibrant blue is such a gorgeous color. You look stunning!

Love everything about this! Your hair always looks amazing and I really need to get my hands on some ILY shirts because I seriously love all of them.
I've definitely felt that way with anxiety as well and it's the worst feeling in the world. It sounds stupid and tedious, but it really helped going to the gym because it got my mind off of everything and just made me feel good about myself and listening to music.
Hope you're feeling better!

I love your fun outfit and those gorgeous Loren Hope jewels!! That fountain is the perfect setting for pictures! 🙂
I have generalized anxiety disorder, and it was terrible for me in high school!! My parents had me meet with a counselor for some of my high school years to try and help with it, and I used to be so ashamed by that, but now I realize that it definitely helped a lot! Going away to college helped a lot too, and being able to get on a regular schedule at college. 🙂 It is funny you posted that because in the past few weeks my anxiety has started to come back full force! I am getting nervous about all of the packing that I have to do for school and also my work schedule has been nuts (lots of close/open shifts back to back which is terrible for staying on a schedule!). Sometimes though the best thing you can do is just to acknowledge that it's there, and that you won't let it overtake you! Try to make the time in your day to do things that you love and enjoy, and never forget that God is always there. Praying short, little prayers throughout days when I am feeling very anxious helps, as well as making more time for devotionals and reading my bible- I'm not always the best at making time in my schedule for this, but I NEVER regret it when I do. 😀
Sorry that got so long! Just wanted to say that I really related to that!

Hey Caitlin! I HATE anxiety, especially because it's something we were never meant to experience. Do you enjoy reading? There are a couple books that address this that continue to help me. 1) Praying God's Word by Beth Moore. This book talks about how praying scriptures out loud is our best weapon against different strongholds in our life (anxiety being one of them). It points out specific scriptures to pray with different things we are struggling with. I can't say enough how much this concept has helped me when I am battling different things. It's also a good one if you're not as much into reading because you can just go to the chapter that applies to you, and it's pretty quick. 2) How People Grow by Henry Cloud and John Townsend. This is definitely a heavier read (it's most beneficial to go through it in a small group, but if that's not an option it's good to read on your own, too). This book talks about how all growth is actually spiritual growth. For me, this book kept unfolding layer after layer of my heart and revealed so much about WHY I struggle with different things. It is also heavy on grace and truth. I definitely recommend!
Keep fighting it, girl! Love your blog!
I do love what you're wearing. especially those shoes..I'm so sorry to hear you're having anxiety. maybe just take the weekend and unplug and maybe get outside. that's what I do since usually my anxiety stems from everything computer oriented. hope that helps!

Hi there!
I'm actually in graduate school to become a therapist and read your blog and love it. I also deal with anxiety as well and have been seeing someone for some time now. I really suggest the books, "the worry cure" and "anxiety free"-both on amazon for very cheap! From a therapists' perspective, they are wonderful and very tangible and applicable to daily life! Your feelings are very normal and not harmful at all. They are not permanent and can be changed! Best of luck 🙂
Adorable outfit as always! I have bouts of anxiety as well, it SUCKS! Talking to pretty much anyone helps me. Small group, friends, family, and it doesn't even have to be about the problem I'm facing. I hope you feels better soon!
Great tee!

I am sorry to hear you've been having anxiety! I recently started a "bedtime" routine to help relax myself so I have an easier time falling asleep (and my mind isn't racing at 100 mph!). About an hour before bed, I make a cup of chamomile tea and try and sit in my bed and just full relax – no phone, no tv – usually I read which also helps. It's good time for prayer, meditation or even stretching. Doing this consistently helps me my braid and my body get to a place where sleep is much easier! Good luck. 🙂
I was having the same problem a few months out. Writing things down and then realizing that a lot of it was out of my control helped immensely! Deep breathing and talking to a trusted confidant helps as well.
Ok I saw these shoes on the Nordstrom sale and I have seen them on you and I'm pretty much convinced that I have to have them😻

I used to get Anxiety also! It was the worst, and you know what brought it on? Constantly trying to do everything I could to make my sorority better and I was running for PR chair at the time. I was a mess, I would cry at everything. Seriously PUBLIX commercials made me cry. It was odd because I am not a crier! My grades were suffering and I felt like I couldn't keep it together so I went to the doctor and got put on some prescription and in a month, I was perfectly fine! I believe when we're under severe amounts of stress, our brains alter our chemical reactions that make us happy/calm etc and sometimes we need a prescription to fix the broken synapses that make us function normally! (I'm not a doctor but that's what I remember from what the doc told me). Oh also on the medicine I had crazy detailed absolutely insane dreams. Seriously, it was like I was a See-er or something. That was the only weird thing.
Hope you start feeling better!

You look too cute! and I love the jewelry.
Oh my gosh that anxiety description sounds exactly like me haha. For the most part, I just try to sit and do nothing for a little while, usually outside. It calms my mind down a lot and makes me worry less. If that doesn't work I definitely recommend meditating too!

I suffer from anxiety, as well. Aside from medicating, I find that drinking room temperature water helps calm my nerves. It sounds crazy, but a friend told me about it, and it has helped me tremendously! Hope that you are feeling less anxious very soon 🙂

Loving your entire look but the clutch is my favorite. I can't get enough of the cobalt blue tone that has over run (in a good way) the fashion industry this season. Great find. You look terrific.

Love how perfectly your shoes match your bag! I hope you feel better soon – anxiety is definitely an annoying issue to deal with because there is no one thing that can calm you down. I try taking really long baths followed by binge watching something funny and mindless – like The Office.
I love that tee, and your necklace is sooo pretty!
I love the t shirt and yes, I agree you need great shoes and you did that! You would be ah-mazed as to how much yoga helps with anxiety you really should try at least a class! unfortunately, lack of sleep will cause the anxiety to be worse. If I wake up worrying I keep telling myself there is nothing I can do until the morning and I will worry then. You sorta have to train your brain to put it aside and go back to sleep. Good Luck, I hope this helps

I love this look! The jewels are absolutely stunning!! I can relate with you on having anxiety & it's seriously one of the worst feelings in the world. The first time I had an anxiety attack I was in the middle of dinner when it hit and I seriously thought I was dying It can play such tricks on your brain and in turn make it so much worse. I try to step back, say a little prayer and take deep breaths. As silly as it sounds, you just have to remind yourself that everything's ok and it will pass!! Hang in there, girl!!

Hi love! I've had anxiety and especially insomnia since highschool and I finally talked to a therapist about it! A lot of what was bothering me was just the fact that I never spoke up about the way I felt so I was always worrying as out everything. It helped a lot and I feel anxious less frequently. I wrote a post about how to deal with anxiety http://simplyraquelcollette.com/2014/07/23/au-revoir-nighttime-anxiety/
I absolutely love this whole outfit! Whenever I'm extra-anxious, I find sleep is the first thing to go. Try to take it easy, read a good book before bed (that usually helps me).

My go to treatments for anxiety: 1) cuddle time with my dog 2) running 3) sitting outside to read Vogue and force myself to relax. I also take an SSRI which helps prevent big panic attacks, though I don't notice a big difference with the constant anxiety I go through phases of. Type A personalities at our best…
I hope you feel better. Love the blog!

Love those heels. Re your anxiety: a great technique is exercise. Let your 45 minute or an hour workout be your worry window. You'll soon notice that you work out harder because you're trying to expel all the negative thoughts and worries and you get the benefits of endorphins which in turn will help you to handle your anxiety. And the physical activity will help you sleep, just be careful not to workout too late in the evening. Another trick is to write down everything you're thinking about or worried about right before you go to bed – knowing you won't forget things because they're already written down can take it off your mind, leaving you free to wind down.
Hope you're feeling better soon.

Girl for Granted
Caitlin, I just posted about some PTSD/anxiety I am going through since I had a car accident in June with my then 3 week old baby and my 3yo. If you continue to feel this way, it would be a good idea to talk to your doctor about it. Opening up can really help…and they can help you find a way to cope. I hope you start feeling better soon. xo
