Marigold Ruffle Top

Happy Friday, loves!! Unfortunately I had a whole wedding post planned out for today, but I got really bad visual migraine last night and couldn’t edit any of the photos, so I’m posting these from Palm Beach (the wedding update post will be up Monday!). I seriously do love this outfit, though, doesn’t it just look like a “Friday” outfit?! I’m wearing a size XS in the top, for reference. It’s SO fun and you do have to be a little daring to wear it! πŸ™‚
(P.S. Has anyone had a visual migraine before? I know mine is starting when I can’t focus my eyes on anything and see flashes of light or bright colors, and then the headache comes about 15 minutes later. I don’t really know what to do for them other than lay in a dark room and go to bed early!)
Happy Friday!!
xoxo

  5. Sorry about the migraine. I get them too. They make me so unbelievably nauseous. A dark room and an early night is the best way to treat them. Hope you are feeling better!

  7. Love the top! The visual migraines are called auras. And yes mine always started 15 minutes before the migraine itself. I take magnesium at bedtime and it’s helped. (I used to be on a ton of migraine meds but came off of them to do fertility)

  9. Yes and I find its from the glare from my laptop screen and the outside glare from my window, so sleeping and lots of water always helps. What causes your migraines ? xx

  10. Happens to me & makes me feel sick to my stomach! I usually put warm wash cloth over my eyes & a nap or bedtime! A heating pad on your neck right below your head feels amazing, too! Love this look!

  11. I hope you are feeling better! Something that's always helped migraines for me is caffeine – seems counterintuitive, but a strong cup of coffee or espresso really works. Caffeine is also one of the ingredients in Excedrin.

  12. Yes, I used to get them a ton when I was younger. I was told they are called ocular migraines and triggered by sensitivity to bright lights. Thankfully I don’t get them much anymore, but I still keep things pretty dim/dark in my house out of habit. Not much you can do like you said except to lay down in a dark room and I used to put a cold rag over my eyes/forehead and ride it out. My neurologist had prescribed medication for them but I never took it as the possible side effects kinda freaked me out. Hope you feel better!

  13. Question in regards of your wedges!
Are they comfortable? They seem a bit thin on the bottom and didn’t want to be wobbling around-lol.

  14. This is such a pretty top and this whole outfit looks like something I would wear for summer. I've also been eyeing that exact bag and might treat myself to it as an early birthday gift. Hope you feel better soon!

  15. Such a cute top!! I'm in love with the color and it looks great on you! I get those kinds of migraines too, have since I was in high school. They are so not fun. If it's early in the day I try to have a bit of caffeine with sugar like a sweeter coffee or latte, maybe a soda even. I don't drink soda regularly but I keep a couple Dr. Peppers on hand for just that reason. They do help. I can often still feel the headache and be sensitive for another day afterwards. Feel better!

  18. Hi there! I get migraines somewhat often and mine start the same way yours do! I don't know if you are opposed to taking prescriptions or not, but I was prescribed Cambia which is a diclofenac potassium. I take this as soon as I get these symptoms and within 30 minutes or so my headache is gone! Good luck!! Migraines are no fun!!!

  19. Hey, Caitlin! Have you ever worn blue light blocking glasses? I ordered mine a few months ago to wear while writing papers for class or looking at the computer for a long period of time. I think they have helped me tremendously!

On another note, this shirt is darling and I may need to order it for my vacation to Hawaii coming up!

  20. I get those too. I usually just try to sleep it off if I can because if mine get bad enough I end up having difficulty talking and concentrating as well as not being able to focus my eyes.

  22. I love this look! Such a great balance of casual shorts and dressing it up with the top! I get migraines with auras also. As soon as you notice the "lights" just take an Advil or migraine OTC medicine like Excedrin. It should dissipate quickly! πŸ™‚

  28. I have suffered migraines for my whole life. Prescriptions have never even helped. The only thing that relieves my migraines is Tiger Balm. Put a little on your temple, lay down, close your eyes and 10 minutes later it will be gone!

I am absolutely obsessed with your blog and style. I am also getting married this year so I’m DYING for your wedding update post. β€οΈπŸ’ would you possibly do an update skin care or other tips to get ready for the big day?

  30. Caitlin,

You can get migraine medications that you can take as soon as you feel one (which I take) or if they're really bad, you can get preventative migraine medications. I had been struggling during stress and school and my NP prescribed this medicine along with trying to remember your triggers and to avoid them of course. Best help for me during the migraine is a dark, cool, quiet room and a cool washcloth or cool bead mask over my eyes.
