Louis Vuitton Neverfull Review + What’s In My Bag!

Lately I’ve been getting a lot of questions/emails about my Louis Vuitton Neverfull, so I figured a full review would be really helpful for those of you who are thinking of buying one! I received mine as a birthday gift last July…. before that, I didn’t own any LV. Once I had my own, I realized just how practical/useful the Neverfull is, and I’ve never looked back! The main reason I love it so much is because of how versatile it is. It carries everything I need and easily transitions from my pure barre class to a date night with Chris (and everything in between!).
Here’s a general rundown….

Although it was only first introduced in 2007, the Louis Vuitton Neverfull has become one of LV’s all-time most successful bags. It’s the type of bag that will never go out of style and can be worn whatever the trend or season. The Louis Vuitton Neverfull comes in three different sizes: PM (small), MM (medium) and GM (large). No matter what size you have, the bag’s name fits it to a T – it truly is “never full.” I own the MM – it’s the perfect size because it’s large enough to carry everything I need but doesn’t overwhelm my frame. I think if the bag was any bigger than it is, it would look too big on me! (I’m 5’3 for reference)
The bag comes in four different colors/patterns. Mine is the Damier Azur Canvas with the “Rose Ballerine” interior – a gorgeous baby pink color. I love pink so this was the perfect option for me. I wore mine all summer last year, and even in the winter with winter white outfits (here’s an example!).  My mom owns the Neverfull in the Monogram Canvas and she loves it – she let me borrow it a lot during the fall/winter (here is a picture of me wearing it).
The Louis Vuitton Neverfull features a canvas exterior and textile lined interior, and is trimmed in natural cowhide leather trim. The Neverfull has one zippered interior pocket and comes with a removable zippered wristlet (I carried it in this recent blog post as a clutch). This is one of my favorite features of the bag – it’s like having two bags in one! The shape of the Neverfull is very loose and the sides aren’t rigid, which means the bag easily conforms to anything you need to add inside. It’s incredibly well-made and can withstand decades of use.
To purchase a Neverfull Tote, you can visit a Louis Vuitton store, order a brand new one online or buy it preowned. Being preowned is a good option because a lot of them are still in fantastic condition but you can get them for several hundred dollars less. This website is very reliable & the bags are guaranteed authentic!
Now for what I carry inside…! The rest of this post will be dedicated to the items I carry with me daily in my Louis Vuitton Neverfull Tote. If you have a question about the bag, feel free to leave it in the comments and I’ll get back to you!
First up, I carry a few makeup products that I rely on daily: several different lipstick colors (THIS is my favorite brand of lipstick), an extra tube of mascara and some lip balm. I recently purchased this Chanel lip balm and while it does hydrate my lips, I think it’s a little overpriced for what it is. There’s also NO scent to it whatsoever. This balm is actually my favorite – it’s less expensive and has a wonderful rose scent. I also carry this primer water in my purse – I spritz it on my face throughout the day for a little refresher – it’s packed with electrolytes to help “wake up” your skin and it helps restore moisture and keeps your makeup looking fresh.
Next, I always always carry notebooks around with me in my purse (I’ve done this since I was a little girl!). I like to keep To Do lists, packing lists, etc., and sometimes random jolts of inspiration will strike while I’m out and I need a place to jot them down. I picked up these notebooks from Target in the office supplies section. The polka dotted one says “Goal Digger” – they’re cute & a reminder to go after your dreams!
I also carry a couple of pens with me – my mom bought me the cute Golden Retriever pen so it’s sentimental to me! My favorite pen to write with based on quality is this Acroball pen from Target. I have a zillion of them all over my house and they’re the only pens I’ll use πŸ™‚

You can always find a pair of sunglasses in my bag! My current favorites right now are these Celine aviators. I’ve been wearing them nonstop, they’re really lightweight and fit my face perfectly!

This lotion made my “10 Beauty Products I Can’t Live Without” list  so of course I have to have a miniature size to carry around with me! I love this lotion so much. It’s not greasy at ALL, just moisturizing, and it doesn’t have a scent (sometimes scented body lotions give me headaches). I have a huge bottle that I keep in my bathroom for after I shower, but I like bringing this little bottle with me for my hands – the bottle is the 2.5 oz size
I’m the lady that always has snacks stashed in her bag – I am always out running errands and realize that I’m starving! I like these 100 calorie packs of whole almonds & walnuts (sometimes I buy just the almonds) because they’re a quick, healthy snack. I’m currently trying to avoid processed foods as much as possible, which is why I turn to whole nuts rather than a granola bar or something processed!

Next is this gorgeous Louis Vuitton Pallas wallet that I picked up in Charleston. I don’t use this wallet every day because I normally use my key pouch – but I bought it to use on some upcoming trips. It has tons of compartments for cards, a passport, travel documents, etc., plus it’s pretty small so it fits in smaller handbags like crossbody bags. I think it will be a great travel wallet, especially if you’re going out of the country! The two photos above show the front and back view. I love how the “Rose Ballerine” color complements the traditional monogram print.

You can always find my keys with me. I love this monogrammed keychain which makes it easy to spot my keys, plus it’s only around $35! Like I mentioned above, I use this Louis Vuitton key pouch daily for my driver’s license, money and cards. It surprisingly fits a lot of stuff inside and makes it so easy to switch purses!! (Before I had this key pouch, I would switch purses and accidentally leave my wallet or money in the other purse.) When I use this key pouch I don’t even need a wallet.
And finally, my laptop and cell phone also always go with me everywhere! Since a lot of my job revolves around social media, having these items with me at all times is essential. Also – how cute is this Kate Spade phone case that I ordered recently?!
That’s it, loves! Let me know if you have a question or if you carry something essential in your handbag that I need to know about!! πŸ™‚

  1. Love the Louis and the polka dot dress! The open sleeves are such a nice trend. I highlighted them in a blog post too.

  3. Love your post! Can you tell me which Macbook you currently use? I'm trying to decide between the Macbook Air and Pro….
    Thank you!!

    • Hey Jennifer,

I currently have two – the Macbook (it's teeny tiny- the one that's in the post) and the Macbook Pro. I like the Macbook for when I have to travel or work from a coffee shop, but the Pro is actually my favorite because it has a much bigger screen! I can edit photos on it without hurting my eyes! It is MUCH heavier, though!

  4. I always have to keep snacks in my bag too! I've been dying for a LV bag but I haven't bought one for myself yet. I'm thinking this will be the year that I do.

  12. Love that bag! I've been seeing it everywhere. The colors are just so beautiful! I'm with ya on the non-scented lotions–it can be too much for me too and can aggravate my allergies. I always need to make sure I have tissues (allergies) and hand wipes (to prevent germs) in my bag!

  17. I don't have the never full, but mine is similar (it's the one with a zippered top and pocket on each end). The best money i've spent. I've had it for 6 years and I use it ALL the time. It's honestly worth the expense. It looks like classic, and can be worn with pretty much anything.
The only problem: I can fit too much in it hahaha

  20. I love to see what's in people's bags! I own a number of fabulous bags and I recommend getting a samorga insert for your Neverfull. It will help keep the shape (especially when you aren't using it) and it keeps the lining from wearing or staining when you are, especially important if you ever think to resell. I also like the pockets for everything from my glasses to my laptop. I have them for my LV, Chanel and Hermes bags and it's worth the investment (less than $70) to have a thick felt insert to keep your bag clean.

  22. Hey Caitlyn!
For graduation, I am getting a Neverfull GM and I am so excited! I've researched them a lot, and some bloggers say they use base shapers for their bag. I was wondering if you used one too or if you think having one is necessary at all? Thanks!!
    p.s. I LOVE your blog & insta feed πŸ™‚

    4.12.17Reply
    • Hey Olivia! I have never used a base shaper for my bag, but it sounds like a great idea! Mine has stayed in really good condition even though I've had it since July. If they're not too expensive, it might be a good idea to invest in one and try it out (and let me know how you like it πŸ™‚

  27. Thanks for this review, Caitlin. I have been eyeing the Damier Neverfull MM for close to a year now. This past Friday I finally went to Southpark and tried on the Damier Azure and Damier Ebene and preferred the Ebene with the pink interior. Your review just confirmed even more and I will be purchasing this weekend! Thanks girl!

  34. This post is really helpful! I just purchased this exact bag today but am afraid it will be hard to keep clean (I am a mom with two young kids). How has yours held up and does it clean easily if you get a stain on the exterior? Thanks so much!

Do you feel the light pink interior gets dirty easily? I’m debating the red vs pink interior. EVERYONE I’ve asked so far (sales rep at LV included) have said the pink gets incredibly dirty. Your opinion now that you’ve owned it for a little while?
