Five Fall Wardrobe Essentials

Happy Tuesday (and happy election day!) Today I thought it would be fun to share five of my “fall wardrobe essentials” that I think every girl should own. Let’s get started…
For some reason I think a lot of girls are scared to try hats! I personally think they are so so cute and can dress up even the simplest outfit (like the one above). If you’re scared to try them, don’t be. Go for a floppy hat in a neutral color like this brown one – you’ll be surprised how many outfits it goes with. Hats add an extra dose of “chic” to your outfit and they also save you from having to wash your hair that day 🙂
2. Faux leather leggings
I touched on this topic in yesterday’s blog post – every girl should own a pair of faux leather leggings. Your whole outfit doesn’t have to be edgy… pair them with an oversized sweater and heels or booties and you’ll feel just as fierce (and comfortable as well).
3. A neutral handbag
A neutral handbag will take you far in life – they pair well with so many outfits, especially in the fall and winter when your wardrobe hues are a little more muted. Although I think that neutral designer handbags are completely worth the investment, you don’t have to spend a lot of money to have a gorgeous neutral bag. The Goodnight Macaroon handbag I’m carrying in the above photos is less than $100 and looks almost exactly like a designer version that costs thousands of dollars. A grey, black or cognac handbag will be your best friend this fall and for many autumns to come!
4. Chunky knits
My absolute favorite item to wear in the fall – chunky knits! Just a few basic knit sweaters can make the basis of your fall wardrobe (like this neutral one!). You can wear them so many ways – with a scarf, hat or necklace, with a skirt, jeans, and black pants or even over a dress. The most important part is they are comfortable and warm. I love buying mine a few sizes up for an oversized feel and look.

5. Over-the-knee boots
If you haven’t gotten on the OTK boot train yet, it’s time to hop on. Over-the-knee boots, especially a tight-fitting pair, can slim your legs and make them look miles long. I own the Stuart Weitzman Highland boots and highly recommend them – but they’re pricey! There are a lot of really good dupes out right now that look very high quality, such as this one and this one.

I don’t know what it is about Daylight Savings but I feel sooo tired when it gets to be around 6 p.m.! I think part of it is because it’s getting dark so early now. I’m hoping to get in bed early tonight – I’m reading a really good book so I’m excited to get in bed and read!

xoxo
