NYFW Hair Diary with TRESemmé

NYFW was an AWESOME experience, but also an exhausting one – and it can also be tough on your hair! I kept a hair diary for the first couple of days to show how I kept my hair healthy.
One quick note – before I left for New York, I applied a natural hair treatment to condition my hair. I do this about once a month when I want to get the product out of my hair… The directions are above, but I mix 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar with 1 cup of water and pour it onto my hair after shampooing. I only leave it on for about 5 minutes before I rinse with water. It leaves my hair feeling really smooth and soft, and ready for an entire week of hair appointments!

For the first official day of NYFW, I had a hair appointment at 9 a.m. I asked for lots of volume and some big curls, and the stylist did exactly that! He prepped my hair with the TRESemme Heat Tamer Spray to guard against the curling iron and to keep my hair looking shiny and soft. He curled it using a one-inch curling iron, then applied TRES Two Extra Hold Hairspray to it to make sure it lasted all day. The photo above is how it turned out! This hairstyle lasted all day, throughout two shows and even for dinner that night.

The next day, I didn’t wash my hair… I just headed to the TRESemmé Salon at Lincoln Center for another styling appointment (one of my hair tips is to not wash your hair every day… it strips it of natural oils!). The second day, the stylist brushed out my hair, then added a few more curls with the curling iron and pulled the top part up into a “man bun.” Despite the name, I think the hairstyle is really feminine, especially when you tease your hair on top and add some loose curls.

After having my hair done, I attended the Kate Spade show (above!)… I can’t even tell you how amazing it was! I love the pink and black theme, and almost every dress had an amazing back, usually in the form of a huge pink bow. That night, we had dinner with the TRES team, so I undid the “man bun” and kept it very natural with loose waves. The stylist had applied the TRESemmé Perfectly un(Done) hairspray earlier, so I didn’t even need to curl it again (and it didn’t feel super sticky). I don’t usually love hairspray, but this kind is “brushable” and definitely doesn’t feel like your normal hairspray!!
So those are the first two days of NYFW… the entire week was a blast (but like I said, exhausting!). Stay tuned for a hair tutorial coming soon! 😉

  8. Loving that "man bun" so much more girly than the name sounds – your hair looked fab at NYFW! I did Dream Dry on Friday and that was a great experience for me and helped me maintain my locks throughout the rest of the weekend.
