From Day to Night

In the past few weeks, I've had to become a master at transitioning an outfit from day to night. For example... I have to look business casual for work from 8:30 to 5:30, but then I have to dress it up to head straight from work to meet up with friends for happy hour.

So how exactly do you take an outfit and transition it from day to night?

By switching up your accessories, of course!

This outfit change requires a simple little switcharoo of your accessories, which can easily be pulled off in the car (I know... I've done it!). Because believe me, it is way too hard to bring a whole other outfit to change into after work!

Start with a simple, striped {silk dress} that can be dressed up or down. For day, I love adding a {cashmere wrap} in a bright color and a pretty {clutch} to match. If you're at work or in class, these {leopard skimmers} are the perfect way to complete the outfit since they're so comfy!

If you're headed out to grab dinner or a drink, replace the scarf with a pretty {crystal necklace} and {drop earrings} for some wow factor. This {gold clutch} is convertible, so you can carry it as a pouch or as a shoulder bag. And aren't these {suede wedges} chic but sexy at the same time?

So, let me hear it! What are your tips for going from day to night?

Leopard Nails Tutorial

Hey loves!

So you all know I've recently been in quite a leopard-obsessed phase. Scarves, loafers, sweaters, and now... my nails.

This looks really complicated, but I promise you it's not! You don't need any special tools for this... all you need are three different colors of polish.

Here are the polishes I used to get this look... but feel free to play around with different colors. You can get so creative! The opportunities are endless, and chances are you already have a combo of polishes that look great together, so you don't even need to go out and buy any.

From left to right:
Essie {chinchilly}
Revlon {gold get 'em}
Milani Nail Art in {black sketch

I started by painting all my nails with Essie chinchilly (I needed three coats for it to look completely opaque).

Next, I used Revlon "Gold Get 'Em" to apply gold dots to my nails in a random pattern. Make sure you get the excess polish off the brush before you make the dots.

At first, the dots may look like they're raised, but after about fifteen minutes of drying time they should flatten out. It's important to wait the FULL fifteen minutes to allow them to dry completely!

Now, the final step!

Using a nail art polish with a really thin brush, apply black polish to your nails in brackets and C-shapes. {This youtube video} shows you how to apply the black polish.

{A side note about this black polish: I found the Milani kind at CVS. I check both Walgreens and Rite-Aid and neither store sells Milani. If you want this exact kind, I'm pretty sure they only sell it at CVS! If you don't want to buy a special polish, a bobby pin actually works just as well. Dip the tip of the bobby pin in black polish and use it to apply the bracket shape to your nails}

And ta-dah! You have leopard print nails. Finish with a couple coats of top coat, and you're good to go.

Please let me know if you try this and send me a picture!! I'd LOVE to see how creative you can get! :)

Is it really Wednesday already??

Here's to another round of WILW, starting with...

1. This necklace

I bought {this necklace} online from Forever 21. I was a little worried about the quality (especially since it was only $12.80) but it reminds me of a similar J.Crew one so I had to buy it. Well, y'all, the quality is AWESOME. It's so beautiful in person!! And it's adjustable, so you can layer it with other necklaces (statement necklaces, monogram necklaces, etc. etc.).

2. Pumpkin Spice Chai Lattes

I almost died when I found {pumpkin spice chai latte mix} at Trader Joe's. For those of you who don't like coffee but still want to enjoy a hot, pumpkin-y drink, this is PERFECT! I thought it might taste a little but powdery (since all you do is add water), but it doesn't at all. The recommended amount was a little strong for me, so I simply pour more water into it or a splash of milk to make it creamier.

My little cubicle at work is always cold as Antarctica, so this always warms up my day :)

3. Peplum

I've been trying not to spend money lately, but I saw {this peplum top} at J.Crew and literally had to have it. A statement necklace, skinny jeans, and boots are all this baby needs, and I can't wait to work it into both my "play" wardrobe and my "work" wardrobe.

4. Pumpkin Pie Dip

Last night my roommates had friends over and we made this {pumpkin pie dip} in a pumpkin. Honestly, I can't even tell you in words how addicting this stuff is. On a Nilla Wafer it tastes JUST LIKE a mini pumpkin pie. I was seriously stuffin' my face and it was not pretty.

5. Still going crazy with leopard print...

Over the weekend I got a little crafty with my nails and tried out this leopard manicure. It's surprisingly super easy to do!

Would y'all be interested in a tutorial later this week?

Well, I've got to go get ready for work. SO sorry I've been M.I.A. from the blog world lately, I will have some time tonight to read and return your comments. :)

Friday Fives

Hey loves!

It's time for Friday Fives... and that means the weekend is just HOURS away! Yesss.

Anyways, this week I'm loving:

1. Forever 21

And particularly {this necklace} that I ordered for $12.80!

Look familiar? It reminds me of {this J.Crew one}... but it's about $150 cheaper.

2. This DIY snakeskin table

I'm not normally a huge fan of snakeskin but, seriously, is this not the most gorgeous table ever? Emily over at {Recently} shows you just how easy this DIY is.

3. Dressing up for work!

I loveee getting dressed up for work. It's so much fun! Before I left for Greenville, I bought some staple pieces for work that I could mix & match to get the most out of my wardrobe. Here are some of my outfits from the week:

{These pants} are 50% off right now!!

TERRIBLE quality... I took this in the morning and it wasn't very light out!

4. Essie's "Don't Sweater It"

Y'all. This is the PERFECT fall color. I received this Essie polish in the blog swap with Jenn from {Bliss to Bean} and I'm in looove.

5. Finally, I'm loving that today is Friday and that tomorrow morning I'll be on my way to Charlotte!!! I forgot some important things at home, but I really just can't wait to see my family! :)

What are you loving this Friday?
