Flamingo Beach

not shown: jean shorts I was wearing 🙂
Hello friends and happy Wednesday (halfway through the week!). I’m sooo excited to share these photos with you guys today! We arrived in Aruba a couple of days ago and checked into the Renaissance Hotel – the hotel owns its own private island with a “flamingo” beach! The whole beach is full of flamingos, they walk in between beach chairs and right next to you. You can even feed them and they will eat right from your hand (although sometimes they miss and bite your arm or even your CHIN! haha) I’ve had a lot of questions about Aruba and our resort so I plan to do a full Travel Guide next week answering all your questions 🙂
On to the outfit – this black bikini top is one of my favorite items I brought with me! The smocking makes me look a little bustier than I really am (which I really appreciate haha!) and I think it would be really flattering on all body types! Plus the lace-up front is really trendy and adds a little bit of flintiness to the suit. My black bikini bottoms are a different brand but they are less than $40! These are a good pair to own if you have a lot of different bikini tops and like to mix and match.
I’d love to know if you’ve ever been to Aruba and what your thoughts were!! Let me know in the comments.
xoxo

  6. I went to Aruba in August of 2016. We stayed at the Marriott in Palm Beach. It was very windy and the beach felt like gravel. I guess it may depend on the time of year, but it felt like we were being sand blasted at times! The golf course was nice! The food was excellent! There were lots of lovely restaurants right on the beach. The time we went there was only one flight from Houston each week. Not a lot of options.

  8. I visited Aruba last August and stayed at the Ritz. I love the entire island. Do a private horseback riding tour of the beaches. So lovely! Flamingo Beach is a fantastic experience but it’s definitelt best to get there EARLY to take photos and enjoy the island, as it tends to fill up with tons of tourists by early afternoon. Enjoy!

  19. Ah, I love living vicariously through your travel adventures, Caitlin! I've never been to Aruba and I must say, I seriously had no idea a place like this existed! TOTALLY pinning this to my travel board on Pinterest for sure.

Oh and let's talk about your what your routine is with skincare! Your tan is so well done and looks so natural! Do you use self tanner or go get sprayed?

Sidenote, I love how you re-wear your accessories. It's refreshing to see someone not just wear something once and we never see it again. 🙂

  22. I went to Aruba a few years ago and absolutely loved it there! I know some people hate the wind but I liked it because most days were 95 degrees out but with the wind it was actually comfortable! I also did a segway tour there and got to ride all along the coast up towards the California lighthouse. It was such an amazing experience.

  23. Aruba is one of our favorite islands, but I have to say that I think you are missing out by not staying on Palm Beach! There are so much wonderful restaurants and excellent snorkel spots on the island. Renting a jeep for a day and exploring is a must!

  27. Hey Caitlin, I stayed at the Renaissance in Aruba a couple of years ago and spent a couple of days on Flamingo island. That was an amazing experience, but honestly halfway through the trip we moved down to the Marriot on the other side of the island and I preferred that area better. Also, one of the things I like best about Aruba is that it's pretty safe. We hired a taxi to give us a private tour around the island, and it was much less expensive than the group tours and much nicer not being packed into a tour bus with hoards of other people. My absolute favorite thing about Aruba is the sunsets!!!

  28. Very cute suit and pics! We have friends and family who visit Aruba every year…some have time shares. They absolutely love it. We went a few years ago. Beyond the beautiful beaches, we just didn’t think it was up to all the hype. We did all the recommended tours and ate at the must-dine-restaurants. Just not impressed enough to ever go back. I hope your experience is more positive!

  29. Went to this resort with my family several years ago and we loveddd it! The flamingos were so awesome! We didn't leave the resort too much but I do remember checking out Senor Frogs, which is always so fun! The locals their are so friendly! Also.. we were for some reason obsessed with their chocolate milk in the mornings! Maybe it was just being on island time and feeling relaxed but we loved it and had it every morning!

  31. I was just in Aruba in September for my honeymoon! We stayed for 2 weeks at the Ritz Carlton. Aruba is amazing! Definitely do an ATV tour and check out the natural pool everyone talks about! There's also some amaaaaazing restaurants! If you like sushi, +297 Restaurant is SO good! And check out the piano bar downtown. Hope you have an amazing rest of your trip and can't wait to see what else you do in Aruba!
