A Summer Maxi

I am a HUGE fan of maxi dresses. I’m pretty short, only 5’3 (and a half), and I’ve heard that maxi dresses don’t look good on short girls. I think this is bologna! Maxi dresses can look good on anyone, you just have to pick the right dress for your shape. And if that means putting on a pair of four inch wedges to make myself taller, by golly I’ll do it.

Anyways, when I found this {coral halter maxi} at Belk I was immediately smitten. I love the color, the cinched waist and the slit in the skirt. Not to mention the material is so soft, I feel like I’m wrapped up in my favorite blanket when I put it on. It feels especially good on my skin after a long day in the sun!
(You can’t tell from these pictures, but my lil booty had quite the sunburn on this day, haha!)

These pictures were all taken in Calabash, NC, at my family’s favorite seafood restaurant called {Captain John’s}. I don’t like seafood, so I always order off the kid’s menu (barbecue sandwich or chicken tenders for me!). It’s a tradition for us to eat here every year on our summer beach trip. The reason I love it, though, is because the back of the restaurant leads to a boat dock with some seriously gorgeous scenery. Can you spy all the pretty boats in the background?

I found these wedges at the Banana Republic outlet about a month ago for 50 percent off. Such a good deal!
And I posted this picture on Instagram of my bracelets:
Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!
Love, Cait

  5. Ahh I'm in love with your whole look. I'm only 5'2 and have been scared to even attempt a maxi dress. You have definitely inspired me to try one. There is a darling sea horse maxi I've been eyeing on Mod Cloth. I feel like I tell you this all the time, but you have the most gorgeous hair! 🙂

This colour is beautiful on you! I wish I had more confidence to wear colours like this – I always end up in navy! I need a bit more a tan first before I venture into corals and pinks – no chance with the British weather at the moment 🙁 Please can you do a diet and fitness post – I'd love to know what kinds of foods you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner to keep your figure so slim!! Those wedges are so pretty too 😀

  10. I'm a 5'3 1/2" girl myself (I maintain that the 1/2' is important). I've been eyeing maxi dresses online wondering if they would be overwhelmingly long. Thanks, you've inspired me to take the plunge and try one:) Maybe I need to go get some 4 inch wedges first though! Love the coral color on you, too.

  11. gorgeous as always.

before you even mentioned you were at calabash, I thought that dock looked familiar. it's one of my favorite places to go when I'm at the beach. we go there every summer (to Captain John's) and then go shopping at St. Nick Nacks. by shopping, I mean just browsing all the Christmas goodies.

  31. You look darling 🙂 I love the bracelet combo with it and that bag is adorable!! See, I have the opposite problem. I'm like 5'9" (and a half) 😉 and every single maxi dress I have tried on makes me look like a very LONG stringbean. haha! I seriously need to come south… I was just telling my family today that I'm ready for a trip to the Greenville and Charleston areas. I think I would do well living in the South. Bonus to have extended family down there too! When I do, we must do some shopping together. 🙂 You and your sweet mama remind me so much of the relationship that me and my mama have together… shopping buddies and best friends. Love it. Wow.. I rambled through this post! haha! have a lovely weekend friend!
