What I’m Loving Wednesday (Foodie Edition!)

Hey loves!
If you didn’t know, I’m a HUGE foodie. I love learning about food, drooling over food, cooking up new food. Oh and duh, I love eating food. 😉
Here are some new healthy finds I’ve fallen in love with. First up…
Silk Light Chocolate Milk
I’m not lactose intolerant or anything, I simply love the taste of this chocolate soymilk.
It tastes better than regular chocolate milk, and it only has 90 calories per cup (as opposed to chocolate milk’s 160 calories per cup!).
Did you know that chocolate milk is nature’s best post-workout drink

Compared to water, milk, or other sports drinks, chocolate milk has double the carbohydrate and protein content, which is essential for replenishing tired muscles. Plus Silk packs in more calcium than milk – an added bonus. I enjoy a half cup after a sweaty gym sesh… and it tastes so good, it’s the perfect payoff for working hard!

Next up…

Almond Butter

{source}

I’ve been obsessed with peanut butter for so long, that I was a little hesitant to try almond butter. I simply didn’t think anything could beat it. But when I tasted this… I saw stars. Almond butter tastes just like you think it would (like almonds!) but with a creamy, rich, wonderful texture.

Nutritionally, it has the same amount of calories as peanut butter. But it also has less saturated fat (the bad kind) and more unsaturated fats (the good kind!), annnnd has more calcium and fiber than the peanut-ty stuff. I eat mine with apples slices, bananas, or layered on crackers. Mmmm so good!

Lastly, I’m taking a hint from nature.

Kiwi

{source}

I recently wrote an article about how kiwi is a superfood (check it out here), and ever since I’ve been hooked on them! They’re one of nature’s most powerful fruits, with more vitamin C than an orange and more potassium than a banana, plus tons of antioxidants and vitamins.

Recently, my breakfasts have looked a little like this:

So easy and SO GOOD!

One Oikos Greek Vanilla yogurt, 1 kiwi, 1/2 teaspoon honey

What foods are you guys loving right now? I’d love to hear!

Love, Cait

  1. I think we must shop at the same place because I have all of these items (exact brands!) in my fridge right now! Seriously, at 90 calories I guzzle light chocolate silk.

  4. Great suggestions. I need to buy more Kiwi. My husband and I used to buy soy milk a lot before we had kids because the expiration date was so long on it. We didn't drink a lot of milk, but that's great to know about the chocolate soy milk.

    Happy Easter!

  8. I'm a pretty new convert to alternative milks and almond butter, but I really am enjoying them (much to my surprise!) I actually prefer Silk's Chocolate Almond milk if you can find it. I think it's a lot better than the soy, and thicker and creamer somehow. It's perfect for starting my day with a smoothie. I usually add spinach, almond milk, frozen fruit and some protein powder, and the extra chocolate goes a long way to cover up the taste and color of the spinach. When I'm feeling a bit naughty I'll add a tablespoon of almond butter. That's the same brand that I get, too!

    I have to disclose I am drinking one right now!

  13. Okay going out right now to buy chocolate soy milk and almond butter. I Love love love chocolate milk. It I've always been reluctant to try it in soy milk form….not anymore! I'd love to have a nice glass of chocolate milk after my workouts. And I've been meaning to try almond butter too. After your comparison, who wouldn't make the switch.

    I actually tried kiwi for the first time last weekend. Umm hello, earth to steph. Where have I been, I'm a cave or something! I immediately went out and bought some, but I had no clue they were a superfood. I'll be eating many many more kiwis!

    Happy almost Friday!
