Road Tripping....

similar grey hat // Brandy Melville sweater (old), similar here // jean jacket

I'm so excited because Chris and I are road tripping to Charleston this afternoon! Charleston is one of my favorite cities in the world (check out my travel guide here) and we're heading down to take care of a lot of wedding details. If you're new here, we're getting married in Charleston in June, so we're at a six month countdown now! We have a lot of activities planned... a walk-through of our venue, cake-tasting, menu-tasting and some design meetings. Plus we will also have some free time to just enjoy the city. Annnnd it's supposed to be in the 60s there... which is a great improvement from the 11 degrees and 9 inches of snow we currently have here :)

This outfit is what I'm wearing for our road trip! I love this outfit because it reminds me of Spring... this jean jacket is a new favorite and the perfect jacket to travel in. Online it looks like a different color, but in person it's a really pretty blue color. And a quick note about this carry-on luggage.... I LOVE this thing! It has a built-in phone charger so that you can charge your phone on-the-go, and it can even connect to an app on your phone that will tell you how much it weighs and can track it using a GPS tracking device. It's worth it if you travel a lot!

Follow along on Instastories this weekend for a peek into our wedding planning! :)

My Top Workout Essentials

I think I've mentioned a couple times that I've been working out more than usual lately! I've been testing out some new workout gear in the process and wanted to share my favorites with you today...

Workout Jacket // I recently ordered this workout jacket and I think it's one of the cutest jackets I've ever owned! You can wear it from the gym to a lunch date and everywhere in between! Plus it reminds me of spring so it helps me get through the dreary winter days.

Workout Pants // I ordered these workout pants to match the jacket - such a cute combo!

Baseball Cap // This baseball cap is a stylish way to get in a walk or run outside and protect your face and hair. I love the white because it looks good with anything!

Hair Ties // Did you know that most workouts can damage your hair? Especially if you wear your hair in a tight ponytail - your ponytail holder can actually cause hair breakage! These sport ponytail holders are specifically designed to protect your hair during a workout. Another tip to protect your hair during a workout is to braid it!

Sports Bras // I recently revamped my sports bra collection - all of the ones I owned were from college, looked old and didn't offer much support. I ordered this Nike Pro Sports Bra to test it out, and ended up placing another order for a bunch more colors! Aesthetically, I really love how it looks (especially the Nike band at the bottom) but more importantly it offers a lot of support, even throughout a strenuous workout.

Fun Water Bottle // This bkr spiked water bottle makes a statement in the best way! The actual water bottle is made out of glass, but the spikes are silicon. I have been trying to train myself to drink more water and TRUST ME - it is way more fun drinking it out of a cute bottle! I start the day by making a goal for myself, whether it's drinking 2 or 3 bottles of water throughout the day, and then I keep a water bottle by my side all day long.

Fitbit Blaze // I own the Fitbit Blaze Smart Watch and wear it every day (just not in my blog photos lol :) It tracks my steps, workouts, heart rate, calories and even my sleep every night. It also motivates me to be more active! I actually did a whole review post on my Fitbit Blaze last year - click here to read it!

Adidas Shoes // These Adidas shoes come in EIGHT different colors! I own a similar pair that I bought from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and they're my favorite pair of sneakers - they're incredibly lightweight and comfortable. Just a note: they run a half size big, so size down half a size!

Yoga Mat // Dare I say that this Flamingo Yoga Mat is the cutest mat you've ever seen? Because it certainly is the cutest one I've ever seen! I do a lot of workouts from home and I love having my own mat - plus if you've ever been to a yoga class, you have to bring your own!

Gym Bag // I don't really have a good bag to bring with me to the gym, but I found this one online and it's absolutely perfect! I love the pink color, and the fact that it says "After this we're getting pizza!" LOVE!

Instagram Roundup!

Good morning, everyone! I've had a lot of questions lately on Instagram, so I thought an Instagram Roundup was in order. I'm going to try to leave all the sizing info for reach outfit but let me know if you have any questions in the comment section!

This black turtleneck is a closet staple for me - I can't tell you how many times I've reached for it this Winter. I'm wearing a size US 4! Also look out for a closet TOUR blog post coming up in the next couple of weeks!

tweed hat // black turtleneck (closet staple!) // Good American jeans // booties

Somehow, this pink chunky beanie is still available and on major sale!

Right now my Stuart Weitzman boots are marked 40% off, so if you've been waiting to take the plunge, now is the time! I had to size down for the perfect fit.

pink sweater (less than $40, wearing XS) // star scarf // pink beanie
white pants // Stuart Weitzman boots (size down), similar but less expensive HERE

How cute are Winnie's beanie and leg warmers?! It's so cold here that I do have to put clothes on her when we go outside - otherwise she shivers the whole time!

pink beanie // Brandy Melville sweater (not online) // Good American jeans // Winnie's beanie

I mentioned this on Instagram, but I started a new workout routine recently and I've been kicking my healthy eating into high gear. This was an outfit I wore to run errands and then I worked out later in the day!

This was an outfit I wore to the airport in December - my coat is from NastyGal but it sold out really quickly! Keep checking their website though because it may come back in stock!

This dress would be PERFECT for Valentine's Day! Just be sure to size up one size, because otherwise it's snug.

I have really been loving taking baths lately, my favorite bubble bath is this one because it makes your whole bathroom smell like a spa!

If you guys didn't catch it, I put up a new book review last week! You can check out the post here. :)

tufted headboard bed // nightstands // bedding from Homegoods
sweater dress (wearing XS) // cable knit socks

This was last night's Instagram! Like I said at the beginning of the post, I am working on a full closet tour for you guys so you can see how I organize all my clothes, shoes and accessories. My jacket is old but I linked up some similar ones below!

sweater dress // similar faux leather jackets here & here // Stuart Weitzman boots (on sale!!)

My Favorite Spring 2018 Trends

wearing: sweater // AG jeans (on sale!) // similar booties

Happy Monday, everyone! I think I mentioned last week that I'm in a winter slump, and I've been looking at a lot of spring items online to help get me through! I wanted to share some of the spring accessories I've ordered from Nordstrom because I thought it might cheer you up too! Thinking of sunshine and wearing dresses and shorts puts a smile on my face, even if it is still eleven degrees outside....

Trend #1: Head Wraps
I've ordered a few head wraps from Nordstrom and I can't wait to wear them this spring and summer! I love the bohemian/chic vibe they give off, and they can be worn with your hair down or in a ponytail. In the photos above I am wearing this Valentino wrap, but I also ordered this one because it is it's a great dupe and way less expensive!

Trend #2: Round Totes
Round handbags and totes are "trending" for Spring 2018. I love this Clare V. straw handbag because it's small enough to wear as a crossbody, making it PERFECT for any spring trips you have planned! It also comes in a larger size if you like to make a statement.

Trend #3: Espadrilles
Espadrilles are back this season and better than ever. I ordered this pair from Nordstrom (by Chloe See!) and I love love love the embroidered trim! These are a fresh new take on this sandal that everybody was wearing last summer!

Trend #4: Bold Sunglasses
More than ever, bold sunglasses are in style (and this is something you can begin wearing right now!). I ordered this Dior pair from Nordstrom - I took a chance because most big sunglasses don't look right on my face, but I LOVE these!

Trend #5: Beaded Earrings
I also ordered these beaded earrings from Nordstrom, they make me so happy! They are colorful and the little added tassel detailing is cute.

What's your favorite trend for the spring? I'd love to know! :)

Six Ways to Combat Dry Winter Skin

Good morning, everyone! One of my toughest skin situations in the winter is dry, itchy skin and I feel like many of you can relate! Our Winter in North Carolina has been particularly harsh, and with the heat on full blast, it is making my skin drier than ever. I did some research on caring for dry skin during the Winter, and you might be surprised at what I found! I've been implementing these over the past couple of weeks to make sure that they work and my skin has gotten SO much better!

1. Use the right cleanser and moisturizer for your face
Using the right face wash and moisturizer can make a HUGE difference in the Winter months! I'm sure you've probably heard of shea butter before, but do you actually know what it is? It's a skin superfood that comes from the seeds of the fruit of the Shea tree and is naturally rich in vitamins A, E and F. The concentration of natural vitamins and fatty acids makes it incredibly nourishing and moisturizing for the skin. It also has been proven to reduce inflammation and stimulate the skin's natural collagen production, even reducing wrinkles! That's why this L'Occitane Shea 3-in-1 Cleansing Water and L'Occitane Shea Butter cleansing oil is the perfect due for Wintertime skin woes. If you've been reading my blog for a while you probably know by now that I LOVE oils for cleaning your face, and the addition of shea butter truly makes these products incredible. I apply the cleaning water first (with a cotton pad) and then use the cleaning oil to get a deeper clean. I follow both up with L'Occitane's hea Butter Light Comforting Cream (it's also available in "Ultra Rich Comforting Cream") for my moisturizer. P.S. I just love the name of it - COMFORTING cream! - and it truly is comforting and smells really nice!

2. Gently exfoliate before applying moisturizer
One or two times a week, I gently exfoliate my skin (using a scrub and washcloth) after washing my face but before applying moisturizer. This helps slough off dead skin cells so that your skin can TRULY take in all of the benefits from your moisturizer. This works for your body as well!

 3.  Take An Oatmeal Bath
A proven dry skin treatment is using oats in the bath. I've heard about it for years but never actually tried it out until this week! Oatmeals contains a chemical called avenanthramides that can actually fight redness and inflammation (both symptoms of dry itchy skin). The directions are simple: throw a cup of old fashioned (or quick oats) in the blender and blend until it turns into a fine powder. Run your bath water and slowly sprinkle the oats in the water (just make sure your bath water isn't too warm - more about that later!). Soak in the oatmeal bath for at least 15 minutes to get the full benefit!

4. Use Warm (Not Hot!) Water for Bathing
This is a big one that's easy to miss! Although I looooove taking hot showers and baths, this can actually make dry skin way worse in the winter. Taking shorter showers is also beneficial!

5. Use a Humidifier
Putting a humidifier beside your bed is also a great way to create a better environment for your skin in the winter. A humidifier works by putting moisture into the air. Not only does it benefit your skin, but it also soothes dry air passages and makes it easier to breath! Adding humidity to the air is generally good for sinus health, and with the cold and flu season in full swing it makes even more sense!

6.  Incorporate Flax Seed Oil into your Diet
A diet rich in flax seed oil has been recommended since they are rich in essential fatty acids which is beneficial to your health overall!

Let me know if you guys have more ideas for dry skin! And Happy Friday!!

Spring Fever...

January is always a tough month for me... grey clouds, freezing temperatures and not-so-cute Winter outfits start to get me down. It's always around this time of year that I start envisioning spring on the horizon - it honestly helps me get through the month! There are actually some REALLY cute spring pieces out right now, and I may or may not have ordered *just* a few to help my mental state :) Here are my top picks to get you excited for spring:

You guys, this swimsuit is only $15!!! I see it and immediately envision a beach, or laying out by the pool with a lemonade in hand. The flower detailing is just beautiful!

I am ordering this straw clutch so I can put it on my shelf - that way I'm forced to look at it every day and will be reminded of Spring! hahah!

This straw clutch is just as cute, and I love the beaded detailing along the front.

I always order a few inexpensive pairs of sunglasses in the spring. I wear these daily, that way I won't be too upset if they break or I lose them! These are SO cute!

My favorite favorite favorite sandals! I've had this pair for three (maybe four?) years now and can attest to how well they hold up. Mine still look amazing! They are expensive, yes, but think of it as an investment you'll continue to wear years down the road.

I am swooning over gold jewelry right now. These gold earrings are perfect!

Don't these sandals just scream happiness? I love the fun print!

The pattern on this dress is B-E-A-utiful!

nine // pink dress
This one is super romantic while also staying classy. You could totally wear this on Valentine's Day and it would be appropriate (maybe just add a cozy jacket if you'll be going outside at all :)

Okay... THIS ONE!! This is my absolute favorite! Everyone needs this swimsuit coverup in their lives!

Who else is ready for spring?!
xoxo
