The Best Denim for Under $60

white cold shoulder top (it's lined & high quality!) // skinny jeans (less than $60)
Gucci Marmot handbag, similar HERE // Carrson sandals // Celine sunglasses, similar HERE
MAC lipstick in "pink nouveau"

I wore this look in Charleston a few days ago for lunch and shopping around town. Words can't express how in love I am with these light-wash skinny jeans that are less than $60! I feel like it's typically pretty hard to find great-fitting jeans for less than $200, which makes these an absolute steal. Just a tip about the brand, they run a little big so I always size down one size! They also have a bunch of darker wash styles out too (and they're less than $60 as well). I'm including them in the widget below!

P.S. I'm wearing an XS in my white cold shoulder top and it IS lined - not see-through at all (this is always my worry when ordering white tops!!).

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Wednesday!!

One Shoulder Ruffles in Charleston

one shoulder ruffle top (runs a little big, size down one size!) // AG jeans

Accessories can either make or break an outfit. One store I always turn to for the best accessories is Nordstrom (that's probably not a surprise to anyone haha). This beaded embroidered clutch is perfect for spring and summer, and especially a beach vacation! I can see it with a white dress and a suntan. And you guys know how much I love these wedge sandals - I've worn them quite a few times on the blog this spring. In addition to being really comfortable, they seriously go with EVERY outfit. That makes them a closet staple to me! You can check out all of Nordstrom's new spring accessories here. :)

My mom and I came to Charleston for a few days to escape the horrible weather back home. It's sunny and supposed to be 80 degrees here today! I'm working on a full Charleston guide for you guys while I'm here!

How to Wake Up Happy

Ralph Lauren pink pajamas, also love THESE // eyeglasses

How you wake up in the morning can have a huge impact on the rest of your day. If you wake up in a bad mood and rushed for time, odds are you're setting yourself up for negativity throughout the day. I've been in that position plenty of times - and often my anxiety increases and gets worse throughout the day. I've recently made it a point to try to wake up "happy" - and what a difference it makes! I find that I'm more efficient, productive and positive, and that my day is better in general. Here are a couple of steps you can take to wake up happy:

1. Pick out your outfit the night before
I'm one of those people that finds picking out an outfit very stressful (maybe that's just cause I'm a fashion blogger?! Or is that normal? haha). I try on tons of outfit combinations and by the time I'm fully dressed, there are clothes strewn all over my bed and floor. I've found that if I pick out my outfit the night before, I eliminate a ton of stress in the morning. I even pick out the accessories - my handbag, shoes and any jewelry I plan to wear. I keep the outfit folded by my bed or hanging right inside my closet so it's easy to access in the morning.

2. Open your blinds
Sunlight makes me so happy, and waking to a bright, sunlit room makes me happiest. I always raise the blinds right right before bed, so that I wake up to the sunrise. The light signals your brain that it's time to wake up - it works like a cup of coffee to get me out of bed and start my morning routine!

3. Do a devotion
One of my favorite ways to start out the day is spending time with the Lord, either by reading some of my favorite Bible verses or by doing a quick devotion. I love this devotional book - there's a different scripture and teaching for each day and they're always positive and uplifting.

4. Do the dishes the night before
This one might sound crazy, but hear me out. I find that I am much happier in the mornings when I walk into my kitchen to find an empty sink and clean kitchen. I make it a point to wash all my dishes (or put them in the dishwasher) the night before - it's a simple task, but it makes all the difference when you wake up. It is much easier to cook breakfast without all the clutter, too!

5. Look forward to breakfast
Make a breakfast that is healthy and delicious, but most of all one that you'll look forward to! Try a "banana split parfait" by cutting a banana in half and layering vanilla yogurt, fruit and a little bit of granola on top. Lately I've been throwing a frozen whole wheat waffle in the toaster and then slathering peanut butter and honey on top. It tastes so good that I think about it at night before I go to bed! Maybe instead of a fancy breakfast, you could make a special coffee drink in the morning - whatever it is, it should make you excited to wake up.

6. Meditate
Starting your day with 5 to 10 minutes of meditation is the perfect way to set the tone for your entire day and help you stay focused, content and optimistic. Find a comfortable spot in your house where you can sit, undisturbed. If you're new to meditation, try listening to a guided one like this one or this one. Or you could just journal for a few minutes, writing down everything your thankful for that day.

7. Play your favorite song while you brush your teeth
I find that one of the quickest and easiest ways to feel happy during the morning is to listen to one of my favorite songs while I'm brushing my teeth and putting my makeup on. I end up dancing around in my pajamas by the time the song is over! Some of my favorites right now are Body Like a Back Road and It Ain't Me.

Dior lip balm // eyelashes mug

8. Get plenty of sleep the night before
Getting enough sleep is essential for a healthy lifestyle. Not only does it make you feel better, its importance goes beyond just boosting your mood - it helps benefit you heart, mind and even your weight, and can improve your memory, spur creativity and can help keep your stress levels low. I notice that when I get 8 hours of sleep, I wake up feeling and looking well-rested, without bags under my eyes.

9. Listen to a podcast
I love listening to podcasts in the mornings, whether it's an inspirational one or the latest episode of a crime/thriller podcast. They can make a traffic-filled drive so much better - I won't even notice that I'm sitting in traffic! I blogged about some of my favorite podcasts here.

10. Sticky notes of affirmation
I sometimes leave sticky notes for myself in places that I'll be sure to see them - like on my bathroom mirror or my Keurig machine (seriously, I do!). Whether it's an uplifting Bible verse or an inspirational quote, I can't help but smile when I read them.

I'd love to hear some things you do in the morning to start your day out on a positive note! Let us all know in the comments :)

P.S. There's only two more days to enter my giveaway for a David Yurman bracelet, T3 curling wand and monogram necklace! Enter here!

5 Apps to Make You More Productive

Office details: shelving unit // rug // desk // chair

These days, time is pretty scarce. I feel like I'm constantly running from one thing to the next, overwhelmed with projects, deadlines, trips and emails all while trying to squeeze in a social life. Thankfully, there are TONS of apps that are insanely useful for organizing, keeping track and prioritizing everything going on in your life! There are five key ones that I really depend on, and they've made such a big difference in my productivity (well, these apps + several cups of coffee lol). Without further ado... here are my top five!

one // Wunderlist

First on the list is an app called Wunderlist. I typically rely on a pen and paper for my "To Do" lists, but this app has some pretty amazing features that even a pen and paper can't beat. Wunderlist allows you to create several categories of "To Do" lists (for example, "Work" or "Travel") and then under each category you can list each item that needs to be done and sort them alphabetically, by due date or by priority. If you're anything like me, I have ideas running through my head all day long, and while I'm not always near a pen and paper, I'm guaranteed to always have my phone with me and can easily make updates or add in a "To Do." I actually keep track of my Grocery List on this app, too... whenever I run out of a food item or find a recipe I want to make, I just whip out my phone and add the ingredients. This app also helps me focus on career goals and the necessary steps to reach them, as well as lets me add in reminders and due dates (which is priceless!).

two // TripIt

This next app - TripIt - has completely changed my life and the way I travel (and if you travel a lot, you need it too!). TripIt organizes all your travel plans into one place, with all the info you need such as dates, times, confirmation numbers, flight times, etc. You simply forward your confirmation emails to plans@tripit.com, and the app creates a master itinerary for each of your trips. The thing I really love about this app is that you can access it even when you don't have internet access (i.e. if you're on an airplane or in a foreign country!). The app even shows maps of the airports you are flying in and out of, making it incredibly easy to navigate and find your next gate. After using this app, I don't think I could travel without it. Five stars all the way!

three // Hootsuite

This app, Hootsuite, is essential for anyone who works in social media or has to make several social media posts a day. I use it to schedule out social media posts throughout the day, week or even month.  This has been a special lifesaver for my personal life haha - Chris and I cook dinner together pretty much every night, and it usually happens to be right in the middle of my "peak" social media posting time. I used to tell him to "hold on" and then rush to get my social media posts up. With Hootsuite, I can schedule my posts earlier in the day and can cook/eat dinner with him in peace (which he really appreciates!). I also used Hootsuite when I worked in PR - it's very useful for managing different clients'  social media accounts at one time.

four // 30/30

This one is really simple but is the best time management app I've ever used. The app 30/30 lets you set timers to keep you focused on one project at a time. Without this app, my brain flits from one task to the next and I get overwhelmed! You can set the tasks in order of importance, and then an alarm sounds when the allotted time has passed. When I'm working from home I like to schedule 30 minutes for answering emails or writing a blog post, then allow time for fun stuff like taking Winnie on a walk or reading a good book. Having pleasant tasks scheduled helps me get through some of the dreaded ones!

five // MileIQ

This next app, MileIQ, is great if you need to track your business mileage. I always forget to track my mileage, so this app is perfect because it takes care of everything for you! MileIQ runs in the background of your phone and automatically calculates each car trip you take... then afterwards you just have to classify the trip as "personal" or "business." Not only is it easy to use and create reports, but it's reliable too. It has made my life sooo much easier as far as tracking mileage is concerned!

Ok that's it! I hope some of these help you guys! They have helped me so much and made my life SO MUCH easier. Now I would LOVE to know what apps you use to make you more efficient or increase your productivity - I'm always on the lookout for new apps. Let me know in the comments! :)
