Happy Halloween!

French Connection sweater // white pants // over-the-knee boots
hoop earrings // MAC lipstick in "creme cup"

Happy Halloween, everyone!! I'm keeping this blog post short and sweet today with an outfit I wore a few weeks ago in Aspen. Our neighbors are having a Halloween party tonight (but nobody is dressing up) so I will probably wear something similar to this outfit - I looooove the patchwork on this French Connection sweater! Anyway, Chris and I are so excited to get trick-or-treaters for the first time in our house - we bought FULL SIZE candy bars from Costco because we want all of the neighborhood kids to think we are cool - hahah! I have slowly been eating all the peanut M&Ms packages and hoping Chris doesn't notice ;)

I hope everyone has something fun planned tonight or at least can curl up with a scary movie! If you need some Halloween book or movie ideas, I blogged about my favorites here!

5 Ways to Get in the Halloween Spirit

suede boots, similar HERE // Celine handbag, similar HERE

Good morning, everyone! So these photos have nothing to do with the topic of today's post, haha... I just wore this outfit last week and wanted to share :) What I really wanted to talk about today was some spooky things I have read, watched or listened to lately that are perfect for Halloween. I lovvvve Halloween because I love scary/spooky stuff, so here are some of my favorite scary books, movies and podcasts!

1. I recently read Burnt Offerings and it's a CLASSIC Halloween novel about a haunted house! (Apparently it was made into a movie, and the movie is supposedly really good but I haven't seen it.) In the novel, married couple Ben and Marian Rolfe are desperate to escape their stifling New York City apartment for the summer. When they get the chance to rent a mansion in upstate New York for cheap, they jump at the chance - the only catch is that they have to make and deliver meals to an old lady, the owners' mother, who lives in a distant wing of the house. This novel is really unsettling, without relying on gore to disturb the reader - things in the house start getting really creepy, really fast!

2. I mentioned this in a blog post the other day, but I am hooked on the Spooked podcast. Every episode, one or two people will come on and share their (supposedly true) supernatural stories with the audience. The stories are AMAZING and always pull me in, every single time. If you like ghosts, haunted houses and the like, then you HAVE to listen to this podcast.

3. My mom recently told me to watch the movie Copycat because it's perfect for Halloween. It's an old movie (it came out in 1995) but it's so good - Chris and I watched it over the weekend and loved it! In the movie, Sigourney Weaver plays a criminal psychologist with agoraphobia (she can't leave her house). She's helping the police to catch a serial killer and has identified that the killer is copycatting notorious serial-killers (hence the name of the movie, Copycat). I don't want to say anything else about the movie because I don't want to ruin it for anyone, you seriously need to go watch it for yourself!

4. If you didn't already know, Stranger Things 2 came out on Netflix this past weekend. The first season of Stranger Things is an absolute must-see if you haven't already seen it - it's a hit Netflix original series consisting of 8 episodes ( that you can totally binge watch it in a couple days - that's what we did!). The series is set in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana in the 1980s and focuses on the investigation into the supernatural disappearance of a young boy. I LOVE the entire cast of characters - I want to be friends with them in real life!

5. It has been years since I read the novel Hell House by Richard Matheson, but it still stands out in my mind as one of the scariest novels I've ever read (in fact, Stephen King himself said it is the scariest haunted house novel ever written!). If you're really looking for a fright, then dig into this book - paranormal investigators head to a haunted house in Maine to seek out proof of life after death. This novel is a classic in the horror genre, and not for the faint of heart!

If you have any favorite scary books/podcasts or movies feel free to leave them in the comments!

Cable Knit Cozy

similar boots also similar here // MAC lipstick in "mehr"

Happy Friday, everyone! Fall has (finally) hit Winston Salem, so this cold shoulder sweater has been the perfect thing to wear. Not only is it cozy and comfortable, it's SUPER high quality and thick, for under $100! Spring (www.shopspring.com) has a huge selection of sweaters, dresses, accessories and more from all kinds of different brands, all in the same place. They also have tons of different Paige jeans which is my favorite brand of jeans at the moment! You can shop my entire outfit in the widget below :)

What is everyone doing this weekend? I'm sooooooo pumped because Chris and I are finally home for a weekend! We plan to relax and do some stuff around the house - we bought a new kitchen table so we need to put it together (we moved our other one into the dining room) and we need to pick out some new paint colors! I'll share a house update soon on the blog!

Love to everyone. xoxo

Tassel Trim Wrap

This wrap was so unique, I just had to get it! I love the cute little tassels on it, as well as the beige and burgundy colors. It was the perfect accessory to wrap around me on this chilly Vermont morning. P.S. If you like to wear ponchos and wraps in the fall/winter like I do, then you need this white tee - it's only $25 and the perfect layering tee! Mine is multiple years old but they keep bringing it back every year (probably cause it's really popular) - I want to order new ones in the black and grey colors :)

Is everyone having a good week? Mine has been hectic but I finally found a book to get into! I mentioned before that reading has been a struggle for me this month - I have had so much going on, and it's been hard to concentrate on a book (I couldn't find one to keep my interest very long). But a reader suggested a new one that I started a couple days ago and it's sooo good I'm almost finished with it. Keep your eyes peeled for a book review soon!

Current Favorites (Beauty, Fashion, Home Decor!)

Hey guys! I thought it would be fun to share some of my current favorite products with you... ranging from makeup to home decor and even a travel item. Let's get started!

1. Fuzzy turtlenecks
I am having a HUGE thing for turtlenecks right now. I don't know what it is about them but they just scream "sexy" to me (yes, sexy! even though they cover up so much skin... weird right?). Anyway, I recently wore this one in this instagram post and you guys really loved it! I just ordered this one (shown above) too because it looks sooo cozy!

2. Makeup favorites
I've tried out a few new makeup products lately that are worth sharing with you guys. The first is this facial oil from the brand Sunday Riley... I have used a couple of products from this line and always loved them, so I was really excited to try the oil. I took it with me on my trips to Vermont and Portland and was hoping it would help my skin stay moisturized even in a dry, cold climate... and it did! I woke up each morning with GLOWING skin - usually in cold climates I will wake up with dry, flaky skin! So it's safe to say I'm obsessed with this stuff. The next makeup item is a new lipstick color (you've probably seen me wear it in a couple of recent blog posts) - MAC lipstick in the color "mehr". If you're looking for a new fall lip color that's a pink-y burgundy but not too overpowering, give this one a try. It's the PERFECT fall shade but it's not too dark or vampy. Lastly, I mentioned this in a blog post last week but I've really been loving this foundation - it goes on so smoothly, covers imperfections and stays put all day. I'm hooked.

3. Barefoot Dreams Robe
The next thing I'm loving is this Barefoot Dreams robe - I bought it during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale because it was really marked down (I also bought a Barefoot Dreams blanket!). Barefoot Dreams is known for having the hands down SOFTEST products on the market, and you'll believe it when you feel it for yourself. Anyway, I put on this robe each morning to make breakfast and take Winnie out... and it's what I look forward to most about getting ready for bed at night! I'm wearing it in this blog post

4. Cozy Cardigans
In addition to turtlenecks, I've also been on a cardigan kick. I just ordered this grandpa cardigan and can't wait to get it in!

5. Carry On Suitcase
I have been meaning to share this for a few months now. I ordered this Raden carry-on suitcase in the spring (they are always backordered so if you want it you just have to wait for it!) and I've now used it on three or four trips. It's spacious inside and easy to roll, but it's #1 feature is that it has a built-in cell phone charger. Not even kidding, y'all! My phone is always losing battery, so it's so nice to have this suitcase at the airport, I am constantly plugging it in while I'm walking from one terminal to the next or waiting to board my flight. You can also download an app that will tell you the GPS location of the suitcase, how much it weighs, and how much charge you have left in the battery.

6. Chunky Knit Beanies
If you follow me on Instagram then you already know about my obsession with huge, chunky cable-knit beanies. I recently discovered this chunky cable knit beanie on Forever21's website - it looks EXACTLY like my ASOS beanie from last year (that sold out forever ago) but it's way cheaper. Snag it while you can!

7. Guest Bedroom Furniture
We have a bunch of family coming in town for Thanksgiving, so it was essential that we have enough beds for everyone! My old bed is being used in one guest bedroom, and we just ordered this bed and bedside table for our second guest bedroom. I talked to Pottery Barn on the phone and this bed will arrive by Thanksgiving if anyone else is in a bind! :) Anyway, I'm obsessed with the bed haha - click through some of the pictures on their site, I love the comforters and pillows and how they decorated it!

I hope everyone is having a great Wednesday, tell me something you're loving in the comments! I'd love to hear :)

Lavender Hues for Autumn

Free People sweater (comes in six different colors!), also love this lavender one // white pants
over-the-knee boots, similar but less expensive HERE and HERE // Styled Collection coin necklaces

Although you don't normally see pastel hues during the autumn season, lavender and blush pink are actually "trendy" this fall -and I'm loving it! This Free People sweater is a great example of a lavender sweater that's also super cozy (seriously, it feels like wearing a big blanket). If you're not digging the purple, it also comes in five different colors including cream, black and burgundy. But I personally love the lavender! If you do want to incorporate some pastels into your wardrobe, I like them paired with neutral colors such as denim, white, and cognac (especially cognac boots!).

On another note, this is SUPER random but I have been listening to a new podcast called "Spooked!" and it is amazing for Halloween - give it a listen on your way to work this morning! (But only if you like spooky/scary things!) It will seriously get you in the Halloween mood and it's SO entertaining - each episode, a different person will come on and tell their story, usually about a haunted house or strange thing that happened to them. They claim that they're all true stories, I dunno about thatttt but it is super fun to listen to :) Think of it as a psychological thriller novel in a short, 30-minute audio form!

xoxo
