Oversized One-Shoulder Sweater Dress

Free People sweater (on sale!) // similar boots (mine are from last year), also have & love these but they aren't as slouchy! // hoop earrings // Givenchy mini Antigona handbag // Chanel lipstick #145

Nothing screams "cozy" more than an oversized sweater, and I can't get enough of this one that's currently on sale. The picture online shows it worn with jeans, however when I tried it on I thought it was way too long for that! I paired it with some tall boots instead, and called it a day :) The neckline is pretty versatile - you can wear it as a cowl neck, or pull one side off-the-shoulder as I've done here. I love it worn either way! Side note, you guys kept asking about the Chanel lipstick I have been wearing lately - it's color #145! I'm having trouble finding it online, so it might be one of those things you have to buy in the store!

Is everyone having a good week? Mine is dragging on for some reason haha! Maybe it's because I have a special guest coming to visit this weekend ;) Stay tuned!

Lavender Bell Sleeve Sweater

peep toe booties // Gucci Dionysus handbag // Chanel lipstick

I'm so pumped that blush pink and lavender are "trendy" colors for fall this year - they're my favorite colors! When I saw this lavender sweater for less than $40, I knew I had to have it for my fall wardrobe. It's made of the SOFTEST material and also comes in a really pretty orangey-brown color too. Plus it's incredibly well-made, and the price tag makes it even sweeter. It runs TTS, I'm wearing the XS :)

On another note, I just love how "fall" these photos look! Some of the trees in Winston are already starting to change color and drop their leaves, can you believe it? My front porch is decorated for fall, and my mom made pumpkin bars and brought some over for me... so you can say that I'm officially ready for autumn, haha. Just bring on the cooler weather!

My Favorite Fall Trend

One of my favorite trends for fall is anything and everything in the cognac or camel color. Scarves, hats, booties, sweaters - you name it, and if it comes in cognac, I want it! I just ordered these ankle boots which I think will look adorable with dresses and skinny jeans this fall... and this houndstooth scarf is what fall dreams are made of - pair it with a sweater, white tee, sweater dress, jean jacket, the list goes on and on. Don't even get me started on this suede jacket.... sigh.

Can you tell I'm ready for cooler weather? :)

On another note, my sweet dad came to stay with me last night and he hooked up my TVs while he was here! Now I can finally watch TV again... and Netflix! I'm starting episode one of "Damages" tonight, have you guys seen it?!

Fall Staples

One of the things I love most about Nordstrom is that I can find both budget-friendly pieces (like the cardigan I'm wearing) and amazing designer pieces, all in the same place. If I'm going to splurge on a designer item, I tend to pick handbags because I know I'll wear them over and over again - like this Givenchy mini Antigona. It's the perfect neutral color to carry you from spring and summer into the fall (I love it paired with booties!) and the size is great for on-the-go. I'm rounding up some of my favorite designer items from Nordstrom in the widget below!

Did everyone have a good weekend? I threw my BFF a baby shower in Raleigh on Saturday, and then my mom came up for the night to help me with some house stuff! If you missed it, I shared a whole blog post on pantry organization on Friday. It seems like you guys like the organization and house posts, so if you want some more, let me know! :)

Happy Monday!

How I Organized My Pantry

Happy Friday, friends! I shared a little snippet of this pantry DIY project on Instagram stories and was so excited when a bunch of you told me that you wanted to see a full post on it! I am used to having only a few cabinets dedicated to food storage (since I've spent the past nine years living in apartments), so having a full pantry is still a novelty that I'm trying to get used to. I wanted to take advantage of the space and make it as organized and efficient as possible!

The book I'm currently reading, The Complete Book of Home Organization, has been a HUGE help in this process. The book recommends to start by categorizing your pantry and the items going into it. Chances are, you've got a lot of food taking up lot of space. Here are the basic pantry categories:
  • Baking supplies
  • Bulk items (rice, beans, nuts and other bulk dry goods)
  • Canned food
  • Pasta and pasta sauces
  • Chocolate and desserts
  • Prepackaged foods
  • Snacks

Cardboard food boxes clutter the space, so using clear containers is an excellent way to store pasta, grains, rice, etc. (and keep it fresh!). I did some research and found that the OXO pop containers were the highest rated, so I ordered two 10-piece kits and then a few extra containers for good measure. I keep items like sugar, flour and powdered sugar in the 4 quart containers and 2.4 quart containers. The 2.1 quart container is perfect for spaghetti noodles, while these slant containers are easily-accessible and great for cookies and snacks. (Not going to lie, I've eaten almost that entire container of Oreos this week haha!)

For my little "DIY project," I ordered chalk markers and labels from the Container Store. I used these thick chalk markers for the bigger chalkboard labels and these thin chalk markers for the smaller chalkboard labels - I recommend ordering three packs of the large labels and three packs of the smaller ones to get started. I wrote everything in capital letters to keep it neat and uniform-looking, but you can really make it your own with pretty calligraphy or cursive writing. I also ordered these hanging labels for the woven baskets (since you can't apply a sticker directly to them).

Woven baskets can also be effective pantry organizers when you use them correctly - but I don't recommend them for everything. They're nice to look at, but the large sizes can become so full of food that you can't see what's at the bottom. However, they do work well to store items like bags of food, snacks, prepackaged breakfast items, large quantities of the same item, and extra canned goods. I bought these savannah utility baskets because I love the way they look and they hide my K-cups and other pre-packaged snacks. For canned goods, I ended up purchasing this can-rack for all my cans of soup, tomatoes, beans, etc.

And finally, I also purchased these stackable baskets to keep fruit and vegetables. They're nice if you like to buy huge quantities of a certain fruit or vegetable. I always like to have apples and oranges on hand!

I'm still playing around with the order of things... it will probably take me a few months to get it exactly how I like it. I'd love to hear your thoughts! Oh and if you have any pantry tips, leave them in the comments so we can all see!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Casual T-Shirt Dress for Fall

t-shirt dress (also comes in grey!) // wool hat // necklace

Happy Thursday morning, everyone! (Almost to the weekend, woohoo!) This little t-shirt dress is so cute for a casual fall look - it's actually more of a sweatshirt material (it's thick!) and has some distressing around the hem, which gives it a little more of a cool factor than your typical t-shirt dress. It would also be cute with a fall scarf (especially a leopard one!). Oh and y'all I finally found a new lipstick color that I love just as much as "creme cup" (which I've been overwearing lately). It's called "Mehr" by MAC - honestly I have no idea how to pronounce it haha but it's a GORGEOUS fall color, still a neutral but a little bit darker than creme cup.

On another note, would you guys be interested in a post on home organization for tomorrow? I was thinking about blogging about how I organized my pantry - but let me know if that sounds boring! I shared a little snippet on snapchat and had several people ask about it, but I wanted to make sure most people would find it interesting! It's so funny because growing up, I was always incredibly organized at school, but my bedroom was always a WRECK and my parents had to constantly get on me to clean it every week. Now that I'm an adult, nothing makes me happier to keep my space clean and organized - life is so chaotic, it feels good to have control over something. My dad's reaction when I sent him a picture of my pantry was classic, though, he was like..."Man you are gonna have a weird house all organized and everything... and to think we couldn't even get you to clean your room!" LOL!
