Spring Road Trip Essentials

straw hat (only $24) // lightweight daisy scarf // polaroid camera // portable car charger
It seems like this spring has been the spring of road trips! Last week, my mom and I road tripped to Georgia to visit Chateau Elan (remember to enter my giveaway here), my boyfriend and I road tripped this past weekend for a wedding, and right now I’m in Dallas on another road trip… so I’ve gotten the whole thing down to a science by now. Long car rides can be VERY uncomfortable (my bum always starts hurting an hour in!) so here are some good tips:
*Wear comfortable clothes! I love wearing a lightweight scarf like this one in the car because it’s easy to take on and off as you get hot and cold. If you’re not the one driving, you can also use it as a blanket or a neck pillow and take a snooze! Comfortable shoes are also a must (even though I usually end up taking mine off in the car). I really love these sandals for comfort – in fact, you’ve probably seen me wear them over and over by now. Even though they are pricy for sandals, they are definitely worth the investment. I’ve had mine since last summer and they still look brand new!
*Bring water and snacks. Nothing is worse than being hungry in the car while you’re driving through the middle of nowhere (a.k.a no restaurants close by!). I always pack water bottles and snacks – my favorite snack right now is Boom Chicka Pop – it’s healthy popcorn but also tastes great. I also love Sour Patch Kids and those always seem to find a way into my snack stash as well 🙂
*Pack a multi-port car charger. I love to read books or play games on my phone in the car, but my battery never lasts for very long when I do this! I really recommend finding and buying a car charger with multiple plugs – that way multiple people can charge their phones at the same time. This is especially great if you’re on a road trip with your whole family or a bunch of your friends. They usually carry them at CVS or Best Buy!
*Make it fun! Road trips don’t have to be terrible… they can actually be a lot of fun and you can make a lot of memories on them! Make a playlist of your favorite songs ahead of time, and pack a polaroid camera with you in case you find a field of flowers (how fun would that photo shoot be with your friends?!). There are also some really fun road games you can play in the car. I grew up playing this word game called “GHOST” that’s really fun!
What about you guys? Do you have any road trips planned this spring/summer?!
