Friday Favorites (Apartment Decor, Makeup & More!)

Happy Friday, friends! I'm back with another round of Friday Favorites, and I think you're really going to like this one :) At least I hope so! First off, I've been trying to fix up this apartment. The "office" is still filled with boxes, but I did make some progress in decorating the bathroom this week.

The hardest decision was picking out the shower curtain, haha! The one that I really want is going to take a few weeks to ship, so I went ahead and ordered this shower curtain for only $12.50 online (check out this similar one if you want a more reputable website). I picked up all of the shelf decor from both Bed, Bath & Beyond and Homegoods. My favorite item on the shelf is this gold polka dot cup filled with white and gold brushes! I wanted the shelf to be both decorative and functional since I don't have a lot of storage space in the bathroom, which is why I have towels and toilet paper sitting out. It has been driving me crazy having a completely empty bathroom, and just these small decorations make it feel much more like "home." :)

Next, I found a new makeup product that I'm head over heels for! I have been using the this primer for the past year and really liked it, and honestly thought it was the best primer out there. This week I tested out this new veil mineral primer, and WOW. It's ten times better than my old primer! It seriously feels like you're applying silk to your face. Not only does it feel good, but it also minimizes redness and extends the durability of your makeup. The old primer was really good, but my makeup goes on smoother now and lasts for much longer now. If you're in the market for a new primer you have to try this one. I honestly never believed in the power of a good primer until about a year ago when I started using one - they really do make a difference!

I also though I'd show you a few more products I picked up from Ulta this week: another tube of my favorite foundation (in the shade medium), and two tubes of mascara since my Dior one is close to empty. I have used this mascara (on the left) for a couple of years and keep going back to it - it's hands down one of the best out there. I included a picture of the brush so you can see how fluffy it is! (I think the brush really makes a difference in the application.) I also picked up this new mascara to test it out. The verdict? I probably won't buy it again - it's hard to build up enough volume using just this mascara. Instead of throwing it away, I found that I like using a combination of both - the mascara on the right adds a finishing touch since the brush is firm and gets all the clumps out of your lashes.

Next up, I wanted to include a recipe that I am really loving this week (I've made it twice!). I ordered this spiralizer off the internet before I moved, but hadn't had the chance to use it until now. If you haven't heard of them, a spiralizer is really awesome because you can turn vegetables (zucchini, squash, carrots, etc.) into "pasta." You simply put the vegetable into the machine and it cuts it into spirals that look just like noodles. My machine came with three different attachments for different kinds of vegetables. I wrote out my recipe for Pesto Chicken Zoodles below - it is really delicious and so healthy!

Pesto Chicken Zoodles (serves two)
- 1 pint cherry tomatoes, cut vertically in half
- 2 tablespoons virgin olive oil
- 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 2 medium zucchini, sliced into noodles
- 1/4 cup basil pesto (I buy this in the grocery store on the pasta aisle)
- Salt and pepper to taste

1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Toss the tomatoes in 1 tablespoon olive oil, salt and pepper, and place on a baking sheet in a single layer. Roast in the oven for 10 to 15 minutes until the tomatoes start to caramelize.
2. Meanwhile, season the chicken with salt and pepper and cook all the way through (I have a small George Foreman that I use to grill the chicken). Once it's done, slice the chicken and set aside.
3. In a medium saucepan, add 1 tablespoon olive oil and cook the zucchini noodles over medium heat for about three minutes. Add the roasted tomatoes, chicken and 1/4 cup basil pesto to the dish and continue to cook for two minutes. You want the zoodles to be tender!
4. Toss the pasta to make sure all the ingredients are evenly distributed. Enjoy!

Next, remember these tortoise earrings from last year? They are one of my very favorite pairs of earrings. Well, a new version is in stores this year and they are CUTE! They are currently 30% off with code SCORE.

That's all I have for you this week, friends! I'd love to hear what you're loving this Friday :)

How to Wear Black in the Spring

off shoulder top // similar black pants (mine are old)

In past years, I would have strayed away from wearing black on black, especially during the spring. But guess what, y'all... I'm kind of loving it! This off shoulder top is the main reason why - I love the lace detailing because it adds a feminine (and warm weather appropriate) flair. I was worried it was going to be too much of a "crop top" but it's not in person. I've also been wearing these heels a lot lately... they are the PERFECT neutral shoes to dress up any outfit. They blend right in with your legs so they're really elongating!

I'm so excited for tonight - my boyfriend and I are going to see the Jungle Book! Have you seen it yet?! (Don't give away any spoilers :) I mainly can't wait for the popcorn, haha. Movie theater popcorn is the best!

The White Tank you Need for Spring/Summer

white tank (only $30 & comes in six different colors!)
H&M cardigan (not online), comes in a kimono version and dress version (color is "blue floral")
Topshop shorts // Chloe espadrille wedges, great dupes here, just bought these shoes in tan

Everyone needs a basic white tank for spring... to layer under cardigans and to transition from work to play. I love this one for the extremely high quality, the bright white color (some white tanks are more "off white" than white) and the price tag! It's only $30 and comes in six different colors, including a beautiful hot pink. I find myself wearing it at least three or four times per week! My cardigan was also an H&M purchase, but I can't find it online anywhere - I do like kimono version though. It would look cute with this outfit or as a cover up with a white bathing suit! *insert heart eyes emoji here*

It is so nice to be home this week! In my free time yesterday I tried to order some decor for my main bathroom... and forgot how hard it was to order furniture and house decor online. I spent wayyyyy too long trying to order a darn shower curtain! (I finally picked out two and am planning on sending one back.) If you guys have any tips/tricks for ordering decor online I would love to know!! :)

Spring Outfit - Both Pieces are Less than $25!

70s inspired spring outfit
love this striped skirt!
off-shoulder blouse paired with colorful skirt
cute spring look
tassel earrings
Southern Curls and Pearls Dallas
white off shoulder blouse (only $24) // striped skirt (marked down to $15)
fringe earrings, also love these // Chloe Drew bag, similar here
Tory Burch wedges (20% off with code BLOOM) // Karen Walker sunglasses

I should go into H&M more often... I went in last week and walked out with a load of clothes - and my entire bill was less than $100. I was particularly impressed with the quality and price of the outfit I'm wearing in these photos... the off shoulder top is $24 and the striped skirt is marked down to $15! If you can't tell, I'm really into the 70s trend right now so this look was perfect :) As far as sizing goes, I am wearing a US 2 in both - but they are a little tight! I could have sized up one. For reference, I usually wear XS.

These fringe earrings are so cute too - except I am a dummy!! I sat on them in the car and broke them. Looks like I'll be taking another trip to H&M in search of them....

Did everyone have a good weekend?! My boyfriend and I attended a wedding in Charleston that was absolutely gorgeous! Although I love Charleston, I am happy to be back home for the week - I am pretty tired from traveling and still have so much work to do unpacking my apartment.

Tory Burch Spring Sale - Up to 30% Off!

Robinson pebbled mini satchel // leaf appliqué cosmetic bag

One of my favorite retailers Tory Burch just launched their biggest sale of the spring & summer... you can take up to 30% off your purchase with the code BLOOM. Here's how it works:

Spend $250, receive 20% off
Spend $500, receive 25% off
Spend $750, receive 30% off
(Almost everything is included in the sale except for Miller sandals)

I always, always use this sale every year to purchase new shoes and my spring/summer handbag. I bought these wedges during the sale last year - they were so popular last year that they brought them back again this year! You have probably seen me wear them in a bunch of blog posts (Here is a good example if you want to see what they look like on me). They are by far my most comfortable wedges and they are my go-to whenever I go out at night with friends! I really can't say enough good things about them.

Tory's clothing line this spring is also on point - lots of tassels, blue and white stripes and pops of red. And of course you can't go wrong with one of her classic handbags! I bought a white leather handbag during this sale two years ago and it is still one of my favorite spring bags to this day! It looks very similar to this one that's out now.

The one thing I will say about this sale is that if you want something - shop quickly! The shoes and popular handbags always sell out fast. Happy shopping, loves!

Little Black Dress

black tank dress // platform sandals (size down half a size)
panama hat (30% off with code TIMETOSHOP) // turquoise tassel earrings
Chloe Drew bag, similar and less expensive here

Sorry my posts have been going up so late this week! I usually write them ahead of time, but this week has been absolutely crazy since I'm not at home - we are hardly getting any sleep, and I've been having really bad technology problems with my laptop. I promise next week we'll be back to schedule! :)

Anyway, this black tank dress is (in my opinion) the perfect lightweight dress for spring. It comes in three colors, and there are SO many different ways to accessorize them. The dress comes down almost to your knees, so it would definitely be appropriate for work with a cute cardigan! I also like it as I'm wearing it here... with fun wedges and a panama hat.

These photos were taken at Chateau Elan... don't forget that the giveaway for a wine tour & tasting ends on Monday! You can enter the Rafflecopter giveaway below - if you've already entered, good luck! xoxo

Spring Road Trip Essentials

straw hat (only $24) // lightweight daisy scarf // polaroid camera // portable car charger

It seems like this spring has been the spring of road trips! Last week, my mom and I road tripped to Georgia to visit Chateau Elan (remember to enter my giveaway here), my boyfriend and I road tripped this past weekend for a wedding, and right now I'm in Dallas on another road trip... so I've gotten the whole thing down to a science by now. Long car rides can be VERY uncomfortable (my bum always starts hurting an hour in!) so here are some good tips:

*Wear comfortable clothes! I love wearing a lightweight scarf like this one in the car because it's easy to take on and off as you get hot and cold. If you're not the one driving, you can also use it as a blanket or a neck pillow and take a snooze! Comfortable shoes are also a must (even though I usually end up taking mine off in the car). I really love these sandals for comfort - in fact, you've probably seen me wear them over and over by now. Even though they are pricy for sandals, they are definitely worth the investment. I've had mine since last summer and they still look brand new!

*Bring water and snacks. Nothing is worse than being hungry in the car while you're driving through the middle of nowhere (a.k.a no restaurants close by!). I always pack water bottles and snacks - my favorite snack right now is Boom Chicka Pop - it's healthy popcorn but also tastes great. I also love Sour Patch Kids and those always seem to find a way into my snack stash as well :)

*Pack a multi-port car charger. I love to read books or play games on my phone in the car, but my battery never lasts for very long when I do this! I really recommend finding and buying a car charger with multiple plugs - that way multiple people can charge their phones at the same time. This is especially great if you're on a road trip with your whole family or a bunch of your friends. They usually carry them at CVS or Best Buy!

*Make it fun! Road trips don't have to be terrible... they can actually be a lot of fun and you can make a lot of memories on them! Make a playlist of your favorite songs ahead of time, and pack a polaroid camera with you in case you find a field of flowers (how fun would that photo shoot be with your friends?!). There are also some really fun road games you can play in the car. I grew up playing this word game called "GHOST" that's really fun!

What about you guys? Do you have any road trips planned this spring/summer?!

Get Ready With Us for a Girls Night Out!

I'm currently at my friend Emily's house in Tulsa, OK. Last night we had THE best/most fun girls night ever! Our friend Savanah came over and we all got ready together, dancing to 90s music and sharing our makeup tips and tricks with one another. We were all cheerleaders in high school so there may have been a few old cheers in there too.... lol! Sometimes all you need in life is girls night out - even on a Monday!

Today I'm sharing my top five beauty products for a night out... whether it's a girl's night or a date night with your man.

1. Bright lipstick!
Bright lips are a must, especially during the spring and summer months. My favorite pink combination right now is Bite lipstick in the color "gin fizz" with Marvelous Moxie lip gloss in "life of the party" on top. It's a beautiful hot pink combo! I'm wearing it in the above photos.

2. An amazing curling wand
I've used the T3 curling wand for the past year now and am hooked. In fact, you're probably tired of hearing about it from me :) But it really is amazing and worth the splurge! I have a few barrels that I change out depending on what look I'm going for. This barrel is my go-to and what I use for most of my blog photos.

3. A pretty pink blush
A pink blush is really girly and fun, especially with tanned skin. This one is perfect for a night out because it's highly pigmented while also being long-wear - which means it will stay on for hours, even after a night of dancing! I have it in the color "blissful."

4. Big eyelashes
Mascara is my favorite part of a makeup routine! It can make such a difference in your look - especially if you use the right one (there are some not-so-great mascaras out there :). I've been using this one for the past month and really love it, the brush is thick and fluffy which makes it really easy to apply. It's also on sale today! One tip for really voluminous lashes is to use a primer underneath. I apply this primer every single time before mascara - it makes a HUGE difference and you can pick it up from any drugstore.

5. Your signature perfume
Every woman needs a signature perfume. I have used Dior's j'adore Dior for the past year now and adore it. I only save it for special occasions so I don't think I'll ever get tired of it!

My bff Emily (who you probably already know!!) also posted her top five products for our girls night out... you can check out her post here! Also, let me know your favorite product for a night out in the comments!
