Stars & Stripes...

In honor of the upcoming weekend, I'm back with another July Fourth inspired outfit… featuring one of my favorite comfortable dresses of all time. This embroidered dress is made of a jersey material which is really light and soft - perfect for the 100 degree temps we've been having lately in the south. I would totally wear this to watch fireworks in (maybe with different shoes though ;) Also - how cool is this wall behind me? Charlotte has a section of town called "NoDa" which is known for having a really artsy vibe and some amazing restaurants. And apparently some really cool, colorful walls!

What is everyone doing for the Fourth? (Hopefully everyone has Friday off too!) I'm heading down to the beach for a few days and can't wait :)

Pineapples & Pink

pineapple tank (wearing size 0) // distressed jean shorts (sold out), similar here & here

I love dressing up and wearing heels… but sometimes, it's nice to dress really casual and have some fun with your outfit. This look is definitely summer casual, and I just love the pops of color throughout! The pineapple tank and ripped shorts are the perfect casual combo, while the fuchsia Raybans (a Nordstrom exclusive!) are super fun and add the perfect pink touch to the outfit. This is something I'd wear after a summer day spent at the pool!

P.S. The pineapple applique tank can also be dressed up - I love it with dark denim jeans and wedges.

Did everyone have a good weekend?

Neons with Nordstrom Rack

Nordstrom Rack neon top // Nordstrom Rack embellished sandals

As you may know… I have a serious crush on neons right now. I stopped by Nordstrom Rack the other day and was ecstatic to see that they were stocked with a full selection of neon clothing! I simply couldn’t resist this top (the brand is Lush) because I don’t own anything in this color – it’s so bright in person, I don’t think photos can do it justice. I kept it casual with distressed white jeans and sandals. It would also be cute with denim jeans or shorts! Side note – Nordstrom Rack also just started carrying Kendra Scott and I also picked up a bracelet when I was in there. I have never seen Kendra Scott on sale before so this is a big deal!

Check out some more of my favorite neon items from Nordstrom Rack in the widget below.

Summer Pajamas...

one // two // three // four // five // six

I love love love having cute PJs in the summertime. There's something so nice about curling up in your favorite PJs at night to read a book, watch TV or even have a girls night. Nordstrom is one of my favorite stores because not only do they carry clothes, shoes and accessories but they ALSO have some of the cutest PJs I've seen. I mean… I think I need to make the "I need coffee" pajamas mine!! There are also some great options for bridal parties, like this robe. But of course I just want that for myself too LOL.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! This is the first weekend that I'm not traveling at all… so I plan on relaxing and laying by the pool for most of it. :)

Retro Summer

Off shoulder daisy top // high waisted jean shorts (I sized up in both to a 4 US)
similar tan wedges // Celine sunglasses, similar here

I think I mentioned a few posts ago that I found the perfect pair of high-waisted jean shorts. Well, here they are folks! I seriously love them, mainly because of the comfort factor. They aren't SUPER high-waisted, they're just a really great fit and they go with almost any top. I went for a retro look with the off-shoulder daisy blouse… this whole look just screams "summer" because of the relaxed vibes, fun patterns and pops of color. Despite the heat right now, I really do love summertime!

What's In My Makeup Bag...

Happy Wednesday, friends! I thought I'd do something a little different today and share my updated makeup routine with you. These are all products I've used for a while now and love - you can see from the photos that some products are almost all gone! First, let's start with the makeup bag. I use this Kendra Scott beauty bag for all of my makeup products… It's the perfect size for traveling as well as everyday use. The top compartment is made for brushes (see the first photo in this post) while the bottom compartment has space for all of your other makeup products.

Now let's get started with my favorite products!

In the summer months I really like using a powder foundation because it helps eliminate shine on my face and "mattefy" my skin. During the day or for running errands I usually wear this powder alone. For blog photos or for going out at night I usually apply it over my liquid foundation for more coverage.

I have used a lot of different foundations in the past couple of years, however my very favorite one is from the drugstore. I love the Covergirl + Olay liquid foundation (as you can see from the photo, I have used up most of it!). I've tried a lot of different brands from Chanel to Bobbi Brown and I honestly think this Covergirl foundation is the best liquid foundation I've ever used. It's really creamy and moisturizing and gives an "airbrushed" effect to your skin that I love. I always wear this for blog photos!

I discovered Sigma brushes a few months ago and really love them - they are super high quality and really make a difference in your makeup application. This brush in particular is perfect for applying foundation (both liquid and powder). It feels like heaven on your skin and completely blends all of your makeup for a flawless complexion.

I love love love Bobbi Brown blushes. They have a great consistency, are long-wearing and have the prettiest colors. For summer I really love the color "pastel pink" - it's a really bright pink that is gorgeous with a slight tan.

This BB Cream makes an awesome under-eye highlighter. I apply this in a triangular shape underneath my eyes and along the bridge of my nose to brighten up my face.

After using the BB Cream, I apply this powder onto the highlighted areas to set the highlighter and give your skin a beautiful glow. This is what professional makeup artists use!

I can't say enough good things about this bronzer by Benefit. It's the perfect shade of bronze and the brush that it comes with is literally perfect for contouring - I use it under my cheeks to help define my cheekbones. If I want all-over color, I grab a fluffy brush and lightly put it all over my face. It blends really easily and I love the color!

I learned about this highlighting powder from a few beauty vloggers on YouTube. After listening to them rave about the product, I picked it up almost six months ago and have never looked back - it is THE best highlighter I've ever used. I apply it to the tops of my cheekbones - it's not too shimmery but gives the absolute perfect glow. This product was a game changer in my makeup routine for sure!

This is hands-down my favorite mascara (yes, the name is a little obscene but I promise the mascara is amazing!). The brush is really great for creating volume and thickening your lashes.

This is the secret behind making my lashes really long. I've been using the L'Oreal Double Extend primer for years now and SWEAR by it. (Side note - I don't like the mascara side, just the primer.) I apply this BEFORE the Too Faced mascara and it's amazing!

Speaking of mascara, while I was writing this post I found this makeup bag and may or may not have ordered it right away. Cutest makeup bag ever, right?! Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this post and if you have any questions please leave them in the comments!

Pink & Blue

Celine sunglasses, similar here // tassel earrings

This embroidered top from ShopBellaC is a classic summer piece… it's lightweight and can be worn so many different ways (denim shorts yes please!). I also love embroidered pieces with pops of color, which is why I chose to wear it with pink pants. I think the blue and pink color combo is really refreshing! And also - these shoes. I want to wear them with everything!

The temperature lately has been insane. I think we've broken a few records in Charlotte for the heat. I tried to go out by the pool for a little bit yesterday but it's seriously too hot outside for that! I can't believe I'm saying this but when the heat is oppressive like this it actually has me craving fall… anyone else?!
