Fall Tailgate

Happy Saturday, friends! If you're reading this on Saturday, I am probably tailgating right now (and will be all day long!) at my second favorite school... Clemson! I get to see some old friends plus my favorite boy, and have been literally planning this day for weeks. So without further ado, I give you my game day outfit:

julie brown top / dress version / jeans

When I saw this Julie Brown top at Monkee's in Greenville, I knew I had to have it! I love that the whole thing isn't orange, but it has pops of orange. In person it is silky and incredibly soft. On the day I took these photos it was quite cool outside, so I paired this top with a pair of skinny jeans and boots. Today I'm wearing it with some simple white capris and Jack Rogers, since it's a lot warmer out.

The funny thing is, my boyfriend and I aren't even going into the game (although we will watch it at a restaurant or bar). Honestly, though, I'm not really a huge football fan, I just like dressing up and socializing at the tailgates! Who's with me?

What I'm Loving

It's Thursday and you know what that means... that I'm going to have to run by Starbucks on my way to work this morning. I haven't had caffeine all week but I NEED some this morning to help me power through the week!

Anyways, let's move on to another round of what I'm loving, starting with this fabulous acrylic state necklace from Swoozie's!

I wasn't sure about the color at first, but the more I wear it the more I fall in love with it - this particular color is a neutral so it can be worn in the summer or winter. I can't wait to pair it with blacks and browns in cooler weather! It's cool how you can represent your hometown or where you live, so no two necklaces are alike.

It's also makes a great gift for college girls... I would love to have another necklace - North Carolina this time - with a heart over Chapel Hill for my beloved Tarheels!

You may have seen me wearing it in an Instagram picture from the other day...

Love!

I'm also LOVING these leopard heels I found at Target last weekend.

They have a chunky heel which is super trendy for fall! And although leopard shoes make a statement, don't be scared of these. Wear them as a neutral with jeans, black skinnies or even white pants and don't be afraid to pair them with different patterns (like polka dots!).

I'm also loving that J.Crew Factory is selling some of my favorite articles of clothing that were in stores last fall! Of course, since they're from J.Crew Factory, they are also at a great price point!

Remember this vest I wore all last fall?

How about this striped peplum top that I ADORE?

Well both the herringbone vest and the striped peplum tee are available at J.Crew Factory right now! I think they are close to being sold out, though, so hop on it ;)

Finally, I found this Chobani Greek yogurt at the grocery store the other day and picked it up on a whim. It is seriously the best yogurt I've ever tasted... it doesn't even taste like yogurt! The white chocolate chips and graham cracker crumbs are my favvvvorite. My taste buds were literally dancing.

And finally, a little lovin' from Prince George. This is how he fell asleep on me the other night while we were watching Pretty Little Liars...

Hope everyone has a great Thursday! I'll be glued to the TV tonight for the UNC vs USC football game. Go Heels!

Homemade Starbucks Passion Tea Lemonade

A few weeks ago, I was introduced to Starbucks' Passion Tea Lemonade... and was immediately hooked. This drink is so refreshing and tastes like summer in a glass (er... plastic cup). The only problem? That $4 price tag! I knew there had to be a way to make this drink at home for a lot cheaper - and there is! I actually think my version of Starbucks' Passion Tea Lemonade tastes better than the real thing, but you'll have to try it out yourself.

(Pssst. It tastes even better in this monogrammed Swoozies tumbler!)

You only need two ingredients: Tazo Passion Tea and lemonade. You should be able to find the Tazo Passion Tea at any grocery store... I found mine at Target! I like Tazo since it's the same brand that Starbucks uses. This box carries large tea bags (enough for six pitchers). In fact, the whole box contains 48 servings and is only $5, so right away that's a ton of money you're saving.

You will need:
Lemonade
A large pitcher (mine is a 32 oz)

Directions:

1. Bring fresh water to a boil (enough to fill your pitcher)
2. Pour boiling water over the filterbag in a 32 oz pitcher until it is full
3. Let it steep for five minutes and then remove the bag
4. Refrigerate the pitcher after brewing
5. When ready to serve, fill a glass with half passion tea and half lemonade (or whatever your taste buds desire!)

I love this Minute Maid Light Lemonade because it's a little more tart than other varieties and tastes amazing when mixed with the passion tea. It also has only 15 calories per 8 ounces, which is great!

Have y'all ever had the Starbucks Passion Tea Lemonade? What did you think?

Working Woman

When I graduated from college and got my first job, my first thought was, "Oh! But what am I going to wear?!" I remember stressing out about work outfits and telling my mom that we had to go shopping right away. Since last summer, I've been able to slowly build up my work wardrobe as I figured out the "do's and don'ts" of office attire. And you know what? Corporate wear doesn't have to be plain and drab. Dressing for work can actually be fun!

I've discovered that you can dress up a plain black pencil skirt with fun accessories and pops of color. The quickest way to make a black dress uber chic? Leopard print heels. Want to make a statement? Printed pants are the way to go.

Here's an example of a simple outfit fit suitable for any working girl!

This printed blouse from J.Crew is so fun but also very tasteful, and is the perfect partner for this black pencil skirt. And I LOVE the blouse paired with the pearl necklace!

Another work essential is the minnie pant from J.Crew! These are seriously the PERFECT pants for work. They are a little shorter - mine fall just above my ankles - and work perfectly with any type of blouse or pair of shoes. Another work essential is a watch - working women constantly need to know what time it is for all those meetings!

Another piece of advice? No matter if you have been working fifty years or it's your first internship, remember this:

Even if you are an intern, dress as if you work for the company already! Dressing the part demonstrates that you are committed to the job and the company. Dressing professionally also conveys that you are a professional. Wearing clothing that is too casual, too tight or shows too much skin does not portray you as the dedicated, hardworking woman that you want to be perceived as.

On a completely different note... you may notice a (big) difference in these photos... my hair! For those of you who follow me on Instagram, you probably already know that I have "gone to the dark side" haha. I was tired of the natural ombre and wanted my hair to be all the same color of the brown. It is quite a bit darker than I was expecting, but I'm hoping it will fade after a few washes!

Love, Cait

Color Crush: Emerald

These cooler temps we've been experiencing lately in South Carolina have got me craving fall (and fall clothing/accessories). I'm currently crushing on the color emerald - the perfect fall color, but even more stunning when paired with gold! I have been saving up my money in order to make a few big purchases for fall. I'm trying to decide between a new watch, a leather bag or some Tory Burch boots! I love, love, love the new Michael Kors emerald watch. Doesn't it just scream chilly nights and fall leaves? Same with that gorgeous Tory bag. Sigh.

On another note, I've already found my signature fall drink at Starbucks... the marble macchiato! I tried one for the first time this morning and was instantly hooked. It tastes of espresso, chocolate and white chocolate and is absolutely amazing. The next chilly day that comes around, promise me you'll try it!

Happy Monday, loves!

Oh My Pearls

Hello loves!

Happy Wednesday to everyone! I have something to make your Wednesday a little sweeter and it has to do with this pretty pearl necklace. ;)

Growing up, I was always known as the "girl in pearls" because of my love for them. I had a pair of pearl earrings that I never took off. Today, I still love pearls as much as I did back then, but the jewelry has grown up a lot. This Oh My Pearls necklace from Ameera Noor is a step up from the strand of pearls from our grandmothers' time. The multiple strands and added diamond studs make this necklace a sure stunner.

Isn't she pretty?

Blog Design Giveaway

Hello loves!

Well, you may have noticed some changes around Southern Curls & Pearls. After designing everything myself, from my header to my social media buttons, I decided it was finally time I had a real graphic designer do the work for me! I wanted a design that was clean and fresh and looked more professional than my old one.

Of course, we are still working through some glitches (eventually you will be able to hover over the social media icons and they will turn from grey to pink), but I think Tricia Nae did a fantastic job!

What do y'all think?

The good news is that Tricia Nae is giving away a free blog design to one lucky blogger!
To enter the free blog makeover, you must have a blogspot blog. You can enter using the widget below:

If you don't win, but you still want a blog makeover, you can use the code CURLS20 to receive 20 percent off your purchase. Visit Tricia Nae's website to see all she can do!

Thanks y'all! Have an AMAZING Friday and good luck!

Royal Print.

When I saw this {royal print strapless dress} on LaMaLu Boutique's Instagram feed, I knew I had to have it! The printed top and flowy blue skirt are perfect for a night at the beach or on the town.

I love layering necklaces, so for this look I paired my Swoozie's {name bar necklace} with my BaubleBar {tassel necklace}. I love both of them, and love them even more together!

On a rather depressing note, this post makes me a little sad - these wedges were stolen a day after I wore them for pictures!

Shortly after I returned from the beach, my car got broken into at my apartment. I woke up to find both windows shattered by a huge rock (they actually threw the rock through one window and out the other, and it dented the car next to me). They didn't steal my GPS and iPod that were sitting out. Instead, they took my Kate Spade leather bag, my gramma's china plates and three pairs of shoes, including my new leopard shoes and the Coach wedges that are featured in this post. What also really scares me is that they emptied my dashboard of all paperwork - vehicle registration, everything. Does anyone know what they could use that stuff for?! I feel violated and no longer safe at my apartment.

Trusting in God to get me through this!

Love, Cait
