Royal Print.

When I saw this {royal print strapless dress} on LaMaLu Boutique’s Instagram feed, I knew I had to have it! The printed top and flowy blue skirt are perfect for a night at the beach or on the town.
I love layering necklaces, so for this look I paired my Swoozie’s {name bar necklace} with my BaubleBar {tassel necklace}. I love both of them, and love them even more together!

On a rather depressing note, this post makes me a little sad – these wedges were stolen a day after I wore them for pictures!

Shortly after I returned from the beach, my car got broken into at my apartment. I woke up to find both windows shattered by a huge rock (they actually threw the rock through one window and out the other, and it dented the car next to me). They didn’t steal my GPS and iPod that were sitting out. Instead, they took my Kate Spade leather bag, my gramma’s china plates and three pairs of shoes, including my new leopard shoes and the Coach wedges that are featured in this post. What also really scares me is that they emptied my dashboard of all paperwork – vehicle registration, everything. Does anyone know what they could use that stuff for?! I feel violated and no longer safe at my apartment.

Trusting in God to get me through this!

Love, Cait

  1. Oh my word! That is scary!! I have no idea why they would take all of the paperwork & leave the electronics. Once we had someone break into our house & from what we could tell they rummaged through all of our drawers but didn't take anything – not the TV or anything. Makes you wonder what in the world they were looking for! :/ I felt so unbelievably nervous and violated – good word – after that happened. Praying for you! So sorry this happened to you! xo

That is very unsettling! I'm so sorry to hear this happened to you. I don;t know what they could use that info for other than to find where you live — I would make sure that you take extra caution with locking your apartment. Does the lobby have a good locking door?

  6. That is so scary! One time our whole neighborhood's cars got broken into the week of Christmas and tons of presents got stolen. It was so terrible! I am so sorry you have to go through that 🙁 As far as all the paperwork goes I would mostly worry about Identity theft. Just make sure and check your credit cards and stuff!

  7. Love that color on you! I'm so sorry about what happened. I would feel incredibly violated as well. Have the police said anything or given you any tips?

  16. My Mom and Aunt were just telling me people are breaking in cars to steal the paperwork. Here's a link I found with some good advice. I hope you got a police report for it and I would definitely check with your DMV. Apparently, there are things that can be done for extra proof of identity.

  17. That is so awful! It seems like they weren't desperate for money (which isn't an acceptable reason to STEAL anyways) since they left the electronics and took personal items, like the paperwork, your grandmother's china, and your shoes! Give me a break; stealing someone elses shoes is completely wrong….like obviously you can't really make a ton of money off them…they're just jealous of what others have and take by force for selfish reasons. This breaks my heart! I really hope they get caught!

On a more positive note, I love your dress!- and the location of the pictures! Stunning! 🙂

  18. You look beautiful & are making me wish for a beach trip!

So scary about the robbery! When i was in college, someone tried to break into my apartment during the night (guess they were going thru neighborhoods over the break stealing peoples flat screen tv's)- they only were able to dent my door in half and not get in, but after that we took some extra security precautions. Keep the doors locked & look at investing in a security system! 🙂

And I am SO sorry to hear about that! That is definitly not any fun! God has plan for everything and won't put you through something he can't get you out of. Don't worry, if God is for you, who can stand against you? Praying for you!

  21. I'm so sorry, Cait…I know how you feel. I've had a car stereo stolen, my art portfolio stolen, my ENTIRE car stolen, a work laptop stolen and even endured a break-in at my own house {in broad daylight mind you} in which the RICH HOUSEWIFE/MOTHER OF A 3-YR OLD took all of our giftcards from our wedding. People suck…and it's the worst to feel violated. Contact the DMV and your insurance company. Let them know your paperwork was stolen and they can advise you the best way to handle it to prevent any possible fraud.

In happier news – you look stunning in that dress! xoxo

  23. Oh I'm so sorry! I would advise as what others have said to contact the DMV and your car insurance adviser, and if you have it renter's insurance. Sometime they cover items that were in your car since it is in the apartment's parking lot/your parking space. Also, let your apartment complex know, you should feel safe where you live! On the bright side you look beautiful! And that rope necklace is gorg!

  28. SO scary! People suck sometimes. But on the positive side, you weren't harmed and that is the most important thing. A window and heels (even though they are amazing) are just things that can be replaced.

    PS…Those necklaces are amazing together!

  31. Love the two necklaces together. They look fabulous! That is terrible about your car, and what odd things they chose to take. My husband's car was broken into at our old apartment, and I became really paranoid. His backpack with his laptop and school books were taken and his window was broken. At least you are ok!
