New Year's Finest

Hey babes,

I'm so excited for today's {Friday's Fancies} since it has to do with one of my favorite holidays... New Year's Eve!

I like to keep it simple but sexy on NYE. A flashy dress is my go-to, paired with black pumps and a simple envelope clutch. Go ahead and show a little skin... just be sure to pair your dress with a fabulous faux-fur coat to make sure you don't freeze!

What are your plans for NYE?

I'll be headed to a ball in Charleston... a few of my sorority sisters from college will be there and I can't wait to ring in the new year with them!

Lately....

Hi friends!

Here's a peek into what I've been up to lately...

I loveee this fox sweater I found at {Old Navy} last week. It reminds me a lot of {this one} worn by Taylor Swift. They were sold out online, but maybe they're still in stores?!

I have a new makeup obsession. I've used Bare Minerals for years and years, but all the sudden it just stopped working with my skin. It was making my face look really dry and really pale (aka NOT cute!), so I headed to the makeup department to find some new foundation. I am in LOVE with {this Bobbi Brown foundation}! I pump some onto the back of my hand and use {this Bobbi Brown foundation brush} to apply it to my face. It gives me plenty of coverage without looking like makeup. Obsessed.

I went home last weekend and my mom and I made {Oreo balls}. This is hands down my favorite holiday treat. If you like Oreos, these are 34098390 times better than Oreos! YUM.

Still loving bracelet combos... especially this one with my {pearl bracelet} from Personalized From Me to You!

And finally... BIG NEWS! Santa came a little early this year, and guess what he dropped off?

Meet Finnegan, my little Bichon pup!

He's already made an appearance in some #OOTD pics. And don't worry, he will have his own outfits to show off as well. ;)

Yes, he's super cute, but he's also a HANDFUL! Being a dog mom is tough!

What has everyone been up to lately? I will finally have some time this weekend to catch up on all your blogs!

Guest Post

Hi babes!
I have a regular post planned for tomorrow, but here's a fun guest post from Sara with David's Bridal, all about holiday style:

Hey Southern Curls & Pearls readers,

This holiday season is a great opportunity to wow anyone with a new look. Sequins, rich colors,
and cozy fabrics are three things that make this the best time of year to show off your fabulous
side. Don't forget, the holidays mean parties and parties mean lots of photo ops. Show your
friends and family how trendy you are this year with eye-catching outfits that are simple to
assemble.

Parties on the town make holidays a buzzing, exciting time. For a simple and chic look that suits
anyone, try a ruched cocktail dress in a dark color like black, navy or maroon. Surprisingly (or
maybe not), David’s Bridal has quite a few cute ones. Pairing this outfit with large, icy costume
jewelry or a long silver necklace is a classic New Years look.

A simple, smooth sock bun is an easy way to look chic and effortless.

If you're going to a wild party and casual is more your thing, try metallic skinny jeans with a cotton cami and a leather mini jacket. A pair of grungy boots, some bold eye shadow, and some silver hoop earrings will top off your party-girl look.

If you've got some family parties to attend, try a comfortable and sophisticated look this year; corduroy skinny jeans in a neutral color such as caramel, chocolate, or gray pair well with a simple sweater color such as deep red, plum, forest green, gold or silver. For a more dressy and fun look, try a knitted sweater dress and some black leggings. Any shoe looks great with this look, so don't be afraid to rock a comfy pair of flats!

Looking great this holiday season will be a total breeze! You'll be the life of the party and feel great. Have a great holiday season!

Thanks Sara :) Are you guys going to any holiday parties? I've already been to a few... but I have a tacky Christmas party to attend on Friday and I'm pumped.

Stay tuned for tomorrow... I have a fun post planned!

My Hair Secret

Hey babes!

Let's talk hair today.

All my life, I've never been one to spend money on a hair dryer. I figured, "Well, they all do the same thing, so why spend big $$ on a nice one when I can get one at the drugstore for cheap?"

Instead, I chose to spend my money on a nice straightener {I love my chi!} because I felt like a nice hair straightener was a good investment. I had tried drugstore kinds when I was way younger and they wouldn't get as hot, weren't made out of ceramic plates, and generally did a poor job of straightening my hair.

When I was approached about a month ago by Brian with Missiko, who offered to send me the {Hana Professional Dryer}, I was a little bit skeptical. I honestly didn't think a hair dryer could make that much of a difference in my hair.

Well... I'm a believer now.

First, I opened up the package from {Missiko} to find a whole box full of goodies. An eyelash curler, hand sanitizer, a detangling brush, and nail files were just a few of the items inside.

The hair dryer itself is sleek and small. I was surprised by how compact it was! And the first time I dried my hair with it, I was amazed. My hair is so thick, it normally takes me close to thirty or forty-five minutes to completely dry ALL of it. With the Hanna, it took me maybe twenty minutes. I like using the "warm" setting on high,  and use the concentrator and a round brush for the best results.

What I couldn't believe, though, is how shiny my hair was after I was done drying it.

I achieved this look by drying my hair with the Hana, straightening just the roots, then pulling it back in a low bun for it to "set" into curls.

If you haven't asked Santa for this hair dryer for Christmas, get on it!! Thanks Misikko for sending me the {best blow dryer} ever!

WILW

Hey babes,

I'm loving so many things this week! Like...

{one} This Giuliana Rancic for LOFT necklace

I bought it when it was 50% off, thanks to my friend Jennifer, who blogs at {Food, Love and Life}!

I am in lovvvveeee. Get it {here}.

{two} Gold reindeer decor for Christmas

Lately I've been loving anything to do with gold, sparkly reindeers. For instance, this glitter-dipped reindeer I found at Target:

I had two of them, both in different positions, but I ended up dropping and breaking one! I have been on a clumsy streak lately.

Anyways, how gorgeous is this DIY glitter reindeer canvas?

Shanna, who blogs over at {Because Shanna Said So...} gave me the idea when she posted her version {here}. I will most definitely be making it this weekend, thanks Shanna!

{three} My obsession continues...

To go along with my obsession for gold/glitter/reindeer things, check out this sweater I ordered last night...

{This sweater} from Chicwish was 25% off and came with free shipping. Although I generally tend to wear dresses on Christmas Eve, I still think this would make a great Christmas Eve outfit. I'm envisioning it with leggings and boots! Orrr some gold, glittery heels would be amazing.

{four} Arm parties

I love mixing up bracelets to create fun arm parties each day. It can make the work day seem a lot more fun!

{left bangle}{middle}{kate spade gramercy watch}

{five} SEXY NERDS!

I saw Skyfall last weekend... and fell in love. With a fictional character.

Reasons:
1. He's intelligent
2. Look how cute that little smirk is
3. Tousled, sexy hair
4. He has a Scrabble mug
5. HE'S INTELLIGENT

Nothing is sexier to me than a smart guy! If anyone knows any boys like this, please send him my way :)

What are you guys loving this Wednesday?

Christmas Spirit

{one} Bake Christmas cookies

There's something about baking cookies that always gets me in the Christmas mood.  One of my favorite memories is going to Gramma's house to bake and decorate sugar cookies as a kid. Whether it's the smell wafting through the house or the taste of warm and gooey cookies straight from the oven, I just love it. These {peanut butter kiss cookies} are a favorite of mine.

{two} Paint your nails

Deck yourself out from your head to your nails! I'm loving red and gold polishes this holiday season. These colors {beyond cozy} and {leading lady} by Essie are both favorites of mine! If you want to get a little fancy, check out {this tutorial} for adding glitter to your nails.

{three} Deck the halls

Nothing gets me more spirited than decorating my house for the holidays. I'm particularly loving DIYs this year, like this gorgeous {candy cane ornament} that looks easy to make. I pretty much die over anything glittery and pink, so they're are a no-brainer! Some other DIY decorations I'm crushing on include {this disco-inspired ornament} and {this ornament chandelier}.

{four} Send out Christmas cards

Spread a little holiday cheer and send out your Christmas cards! Snail mail is practically nonexistent these days, which makes hand written cards super special. And what's even better? Making them yourself! People will appreciate the time it took to make them, especially with a hand written note to go along with it.

{five} Light a candle

Sometimes just the smell of Christmas can get you in the mood. Bath & Body Works has some yummy-smelling candles right now, such as this {twisted peppermint} one. If these are too expensive, I can usually find amazing candles at places like T.J Maxx and Marshall's, so be sure to check out those stores. I also love candles that smell like real Christmas trees!

{six} Make a mug of hot cocoa

Is anything more Christmas-y than sipping hot cocoa by a fire? When it's cold outside, all I crave is hot chocolate, and I'm dying to make some from scratch this year. {These hot chocolate recipes} by Pioneer Woman seriously make my mouth water.

What about you guys? How do you get in the Christmas spirit? I'd love to know!
