Christmas Spirit

{one} Bake Christmas cookies

There’s something about baking cookies that always gets me in the Christmas mood.  One of my favorite memories is going to Gramma’s house to bake and decorate sugar cookies as a kid. Whether it’s the smell wafting through the house or the taste of warm and gooey cookies straight from the oven, I just love it. These {peanut butter kiss cookies} are a favorite of mine.

{two} Paint your nails

Deck yourself out from your head to your nails! I’m loving red and gold polishes this holiday season. These colors {beyond cozy} and {leading lady} by Essie are both favorites of mine! If you want to get a little fancy, check out {this tutorial} for adding glitter to your nails.

{three} Deck the halls

Nothing gets me more spirited than decorating my house for the holidays. I’m particularly loving DIYs this year, like this gorgeous {candy cane ornament} that looks easy to make. I pretty much die over anything glittery and pink, so they’re are a no-brainer! Some other DIY decorations I’m crushing on include {this disco-inspired ornament} and {this ornament chandelier}.

{four} Send out Christmas cards

Spread a little holiday cheer and send out your Christmas cards! Snail mail is practically nonexistent these days, which makes hand written cards super special. And what’s even better? Making them yourself! People will appreciate the time it took to make them, especially with a hand written note to go along with it.

{five} Light a candle

Sometimes just the smell of Christmas can get you in the mood. Bath & Body Works has some yummy-smelling candles right now, such as this {twisted peppermint} one. If these are too expensive, I can usually find amazing candles at places like T.J Maxx and Marshall’s, so be sure to check out those stores. I also love candles that smell like real Christmas trees!

{six} Make a mug of hot cocoa

Is anything more Christmas-y than sipping hot cocoa by a fire? When it’s cold outside, all I crave is hot chocolate, and I’m dying to make some from scratch this year. {These hot chocolate recipes} by Pioneer Woman seriously make my mouth water.

What about you guys? How do you get in the Christmas spirit? I’d love to know!

Love, Cait

  11. I had a weekend full of getting into the holiday spirit – tree decorating, Christmas movies, writing up Christmas cards, and seeing "A Christmas Carol"! It was so much fun. If you love candles that smell like Christmas, try Thymes' Frasier Fir collection. It's my favorite holiday scent!

  17. I could kill for one of those cookies right now. Seriously. Also, I love hot chocolate but can't find a good "recipe". I usually use Swiss Mist and water, but it is kind of watery and gross. Any recommendations?

  18. These are all great ways to get into the Christmas spirit! We're doing a secret santa at school and I got my person that red essie sparkle polish. Hot chocolate or hot cider are also must-dos. And I love glitter! The holidays are my favorite because it means even more glitter is acceptable!
