From Day to Night

In the past few weeks, I’ve had to become a master at transitioning an outfit from day to night. For example… I have to look business casual for work from 8:30 to 5:30, but then I have to dress it up to head straight from work to meet up with friends for happy hour.

So how exactly do you take an outfit and transition it from day to night?
By switching up your accessories, of course!

This outfit change requires a simple little switcharoo of your accessories, which can easily be pulled off in the car (I know… I’ve done it!). Because believe me, it is way too hard to bring a whole other outfit to change into after work!

Start with a simple, striped {silk dress} that can be dressed up or down. For day, I love adding a {cashmere wrap} in a bright color and a pretty {clutch} to match. If you’re at work or in class, these {leopard skimmers} are the perfect way to complete the outfit since they’re so comfy!

If you’re headed out to grab dinner or a drink, replace the scarf with a pretty {crystal necklace} and {drop earrings} for some wow factor. This {gold clutch} is convertible, so you can carry it as a pouch or as a shoulder bag. And aren’t these {suede wedges} chic but sexy at the same time?

So, let me hear it! What are your tips for going from day to night?

Love, Cait

  13. I love everything about this. I have the same problem. It's a tough transition. I have become very good at buying clothes that I can transition from work to weekend wear. I try to find pieces that can be dressed up but can also be worn on a Saturday afternoon shopping trip.

  14. A stripe dress is so easy to mix up for day/night. I always wear pieces like that if I know I'm going to need to "transition" my outfit. Love the accessories you picked!

  16. Completely agree – accessories are key! I always throw a clutch in my car so that I don't have to lug around my giant bag of work stuff. I think I need that striped dress!

I actually tried that dress on in J Crew the other day… but unfortunately it was a tad short on me… long legs aren't they're all cracked up to be sometimes. πŸ™‚ Hope you're liking your new job! Oh my, I can't wait to be back in the workforce once again.. I miss not having to study at night and on weekends! And of course the income! haha! Have a lovely weekend girly!
