Light & Easy: Summer Meals

Hey loves!

When the warm weather rolls around, I crave easy, simple meals with fresh ingredients and lots of fruits and veggies.
Here are my picks for the perfect summer menu:

Do you spy a common theme? Fresh red berries are a summer breakfast necessity.
Incorporate them into {wholemeal crepes} or top off a {toasted oat and yogurt parfait}.
If you want a cool but filling treat, enjoy your berries mixed in {cold summer oatmeal}.

For lunch, I crave a light {fruit salad} or freshly sliced {watermelon}.
And nothing beats a {summer fiesta salad} paired with avocado lime dressing.

For dinner, I'm dreaming of {veggie tostadas} with black beans and corn, or a {no-bake veggie lasagna}, and I'll take a simple {avocado salad} as a side dish.

Now for my favorite part of the day: dessert! Summer treats should be relatively healthy and shouldn't weigh you down.
These {pink lemonade freezer bars} will cool you off, and I'm dying to try this
{blood orange frozen yogurt} made with my favorite Chobani greek yogurt.
Strawberry compote tops this {vanilla bean panna cotta} and could totally double for a sweet breakfast.

Aren't summer meals the best? Let me know your favorites!

Brahmin Chevron is Here!

Today is a long-awaited day, my friends.

It's the day that Brahmin comes out with their new summer line!
Now, I've never been a huge Brahmin fan before, but when I saw Taylor's sneak peak post I immediately fell head-over-heels for their new chevron bags, and have patiently awaited the day until they arrived online.

And here they are!

Check out the new collection {here}.

Aren't they both just fabulous?
Chevron is one of my favorite patterns, and you can't get any better than neon chevron. Put it in handbag form, and they're beyond swoon-worthy.

I first saw the bags on Brahmin's instagram @Brahmin:

For their Summer 2012 collection, Brahmin did a photoshoot with bloggers Taylor {Sterling Style}, Kendi {Kendi Everyday} and Kim {Eat Sleep Wear}.

The Summer 2012 Catalog also made its debut today and I must say it turned out beautifully.

Check out the {online catalog} for more new styles and to see the bloggers in action.

And mom, if you're reading this, I do have graduation coming up... :)

What do you guys think of Brahmin's new line?

Wednesday Wants

Happy Wednesday, lovies!

It's been a few days since my last post. As my senior year winds down, I've been busier than ever. And today is my senior LDOC - the last day of class I'll ever have!
Talk about scary.

Here's what I'm crushing on this Wednesday:

{one} a colorblock necklace
a clutch with a bow {two}
{three} a perfect chambray shirt
a glass of ice cold lemonade {four}
{five} pretty summer plates

Unfortunately, the next few days will be spent in the library studying for dreaded exams - YUCK! Hope everyone is having a good week, and if you're taking exams, too, good luck!

Who Said Spikes Can't Be Girly?

Hey ladies!

Recently, my instagram and Pinterest feeds have been blowing up with pictures of arm parties, stacks of colorful bracelets usually paired with a chunky watch.

As much as I love the arm party trend, when I first saw the spiked bracelet... I hated it.

I mean, spikes?! How barbaric!

But slowly, they began to grow on me. I started to think spikes could be chic. I noticed how they could compliment other bracelets and how they come in all colors and styles. Then I realized: spikes can be delicate, and even - gasp - girly!

And now for more spiked inspiration:

 What do you guys think? Will you be joining in on this trend?
I'd love to know!

The Curls Behind SC&P

Hey loves!

Over the past year I've received a lot of emails asking about my curly hair.

If my hair looks wet in this photo, it's because it is!
{That's part of the secret}

This is my natural hair {albeit it's much shorter and blonder in these pictures}.

 When I'm in the shower, I shampoo, wash, condition, comb the conditioner through my hair, then wash it out. As soon as I get out of the shower, I spray {curl shaping gel} all over my hair and then scrunch, scrunch, scrunch! I love this gel because it doesn't leave my curls "crunchy" and you can find it at any drugstore.

Now comes the weird part... I scrunch my hair on top of my head to form a messy bun, being careful to keep the curls intact (basically I look like a wildwoman). I let it dry in a bun while I'm doing my makeup and getting dressed, then let it down and I'm out the door! I never use a hair dryer when I want ringlets.

This look is also extremely easy to achieve. When I get out of the shower, I dry my hair with a round brush, pulling each section taut with the brush.

{round brush}{Zoe hair dryer}

When it's completely dry, I twist my hair and pull it back into a low bun to let it "set" for an hour. When I take it down, voila!

There you have it, girls. Nothing too exciting, and takes me about 10 minutes flat.

Does your hair take a long time to fix in the morning?!Any tips for speediness?

Friday Fives

Hey ya'll!

First off, I wanted to thank everyone so much for your help with the "watch dilemma" from my last post. I read each one of your comments! I fell in love with both watches, but I've decided to go with the {gramercy crystal} solely because I will wear it forever and can wear it with anything.

Now, on to other things.
As school is winding down and graduation nears, I can't help but feel extremely anxious and emotional whenever I think about my life in a few months. For the past four years, I've lived within a comfortable "bubble" known as Chapel Hill, and it's scary to know that I'll soon be thrust into the real world.

But since spontaneously busting into tears tends to freak people out a little bit, I've been trying to keep myself distracted. So here are my Friday Fives!

1. The Lust List

If I wasn't a broke college student, here's what I'd be spending my dolla bills on this week:
{glitter coin purse}{YSL lipstick}
{Kate Spade polish}

2. I just made my first Ebay purchase! I bought {this bauble necklace}:

You may notice that it's very similar to {this} J.Crew baubble necklace...

 ...but there's no way I'm forkin' over $150 for it!
The one on Ebay costs $15 {plus free shipping}.
Who knows what the quality will be like, but I'll keep you updated.

3. I keep pinning gorgeous flower arrangements on pinterest {spring fever, perhaps?}

4. I'm loving this crafty idea. As soon as exams are over, you can bet I'll be headed to the craft store...

These {confetti napkins} remind me of Kate Spade, dont'cha think? If I had these, I would set my table with them and invite my girlfriends over to drink lemonade on a summer afternoon.

5. SELF mag's Drop 10 Diet

Ever since SELF came out with their Drop 20 Diet, I've been drooling over all the yummy-looking meals. I signed up for the diet, but while I'm not following it exactly, I have had fun trying out their recipes!

A few days ago I tried the Honeyed Apple & Ricotta Wrap and oh baby! It was good.

Find the recipe {here}.

Some others I intend to try include
{Chicken and Quinoa Tossed Salad}{Savory Spaghetti}
{Qinoa-Edamame Salad with Sesame-Ginger Dressing}

I'm headed to the beach this afternoon for a weekend in the sun. My skin is way too pale - this will be a much needed vacation.

Until next time, love to you all!

Oh, Lordy. I need help. Bad.

Is anyone out there as terrible at decision-making as I am???

The left one is "trendier" and has a bigger face (and it's pink!), but the right one is classic, and I wouldn't be tired of it ten years from now. Also, my wrist is pretty small, which complicates things.
Which one should I get?? Help a girl out.

Review & Discount!

The thing about Southern girls?
 We love our monograms.
We monogram our clothing, our bags, our cups... basically, anything that can be monogrammed, you can bet your booty it will be.

So when one of my lovely sponsors Personalized from Me to You asked me to do a review on their monogrammed sun hat, I was immediately sold.

This Monogrammed Derby Hat is perfect for an Easter morning, a day at the Derby, or poolside.

 The hat also comes in black, grey, pink, red, or white.

I think Lillypet {our nickname for Lilly} likes it, too!

 The hat also comes in black, grey, pink, red, or white. I want all of them!
Personalized From Me to You started in 2007 and is located in Nashville, TN. They ship within the U.S. and offer free personalization on all items.

Lorraine says, "I strive to offer unique monogrammed gifts at great prices and having exceptional customer service... Lots more products being added weekly, including a line of sorority items with Greek letters."

If you haven't checked out their website yet, head over. It's a Southern girl's DREAM, I'm not kidding you! Here's what I'm obsessing over:

 {acrylic monogram necklace}
{monogrammed soaps}{wood monogram}
{monogrammed sterling silver earrings}

Great for bridal showers, weddings, birthdays, graduation, anniversaries, or as a treat for yourself.

Happy Good Friday, ya'll!
{And in case you're wondering, TGIGF = Thank God it's Good Friday}

May your Easter weekend be filled with egg hunts, chocolate bunnies, and pastel goodness.

I'll be busy in the kitchen the next day or two, whipping up some Easter treats. Here's a sneak peek of my weekend!

The cutest deviled eggs that you ever did see:

{learn how to make them here}

And another favorite, Bird's Nest Cookies

 {recipe here}

Side Note: me + Cadbury mini eggs = a BAD COMBINATION. I lose all willpower when I'm near those suckers! Good thing Easter only comes once a year.

And another sneak peek of something that I'll be incorporating into my Sunday ensemble...

This beauty arrived last week, but more to come on that later. ;)

One last {important} thing:
As you enjoy this weekend with friends and family, don't forget the real reason that we're celebrating...

He is Risen!

What I'm Loving Wednesday (Foodie Edition!)

Hey loves!

If you didn't know, I'm a HUGE foodie. I love learning about food, drooling over food, cooking up new food. Oh and duh, I love eating food. ;)

Here are some new healthy finds I've fallen in love with. First up...

Silk Light Chocolate Milk

I'm not lactose intolerant or anything, I simply love the taste of this chocolate soymilk.
It tastes better than regular chocolate milk, and it only has 90 calories per cup (as opposed to chocolate milk's 160 calories per cup!).

Did you know that chocolate milk is nature's best post-workout drink

Compared to water, milk, or other sports drinks, chocolate milk has double the carbohydrate and protein content, which is essential for replenishing tired muscles. Plus Silk packs in more calcium than milk - an added bonus. I enjoy a half cup after a sweaty gym sesh... and it tastes so good, it's the perfect payoff for working hard!

Next up...

Almond Butter

I've been obsessed with peanut butter for so long, that I was a little hesitant to try almond butter. I simply didn't think anything could beat it. But when I tasted this... I saw stars. Almond butter tastes just like you think it would (like almonds!) but with a creamy, rich, wonderful texture.

Nutritionally, it has the same amount of calories as peanut butter. But it also has less saturated fat (the bad kind) and more unsaturated fats (the good kind!), annnnd has more calcium and fiber than the peanut-ty stuff. I eat mine with apples slices, bananas, or layered on crackers. Mmmm so good!

Lastly, I'm taking a hint from nature.

I recently wrote an article about how kiwi is a superfood (check it out here), and ever since I've been hooked on them! They're one of nature's most powerful fruits, with more vitamin C than an orange and more potassium than a banana, plus tons of antioxidants and vitamins.

Recently, my breakfasts have looked a little like this:

So easy and SO GOOD!

One Oikos Greek Vanilla yogurt, 1 kiwi, 1/2 teaspoon honey

What foods are you guys loving right now? I'd love to hear!

The Hunt is Over

Hi friends!

If you read a post of mine a couple weeks ago, you would know that I've been obsessing over finding a hot pink envelope clutch. I originally found one from Sabo Skirt, but since the store is based in Australia, I didn't want to pay for extra shipping.

After days (I kid you not) of hunting for one, I finally found it. I give you:

Le envelope clutch...

Ya'll. I might be crazy.

When I saw on facebook that Fedora had these babies for $35, I called right away so they could reserve it for me, and headed straight there from class to pick it up.

It even accompanied me to my sorority's formal on Friday night.

Which, by the way, was my last one ever. :(

Kappa Delta pledge class of '08, ya'll rock!

Happy Monday everyone :)
