One Plain Tank

I am in love with my new tank from the J Crew outlet (which you can buy here online).

It's so comfortable and an amazing fit - not too loose and not too tight. It's perfect!

A girl can never have enough "basic" articles of clothing. I would definitely consider this gray tank a basic, but the great thing about it is you can dress it up as well as down. These are my picks for day and night:

While I was at the beach, I wore my tank both during the day and at night.

During the day, I wore this to go out to lunch and to a movie with my family:

Shorts: Tommy Hilfiger, Belt: J Crew Outlet, Sandals: Jack Rogers

Later that night, I dressed it up with high-waisted shorts and heels to go to a karaoke bar (Sorry about the brutal shadows in this pic... it was dark out!).

Shorts: French Connection, Wedges: Michael Kors

What's your favorite piece of clothing to dress from day to night?

Oh and is anyone else watching the Bachelorette Tell-All right now?! I'm mad Bentley didn't show up...

A Little Hello

... from the beach!

So far, this trip has involved some ominous storm clouds...

Didn't stop me from laying out, though..

A little outlet shopping
(because seriously, what else can you do at the beach when it rains?)...

Kate Spade phone cover for $35

J Crew Outlet... hollaa

Some GOOD FOOD...

A little beach reading...

Southern Lady Magazine

And a lot of family pictures..

Tomorrow is our last full day on the beach, and tomorrow night I'm headed to another town on the coast to celebrate a friend's 21st. I'm always so sad when vacation comes to an end...

This is the one time I'm a little depressed that it's Friday.

But for everyone else, hope you're Friday is great!

Papa's Waffles

These will...
Knock your socks off.
Make their way into your dreams.
Force you to waddle around like a penguin (due to fullness).

I'm talking about my grandfather's famous homemade waffles.

Meet Papa.

Meet Papa's waffle iron.

 And finally... meet papa's secret.

Papa's Waffles Recipe:

Ingredients:
1 3/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 beaten egg yolks
1 3/4 cups milk
1/2 cup salad oil or melted shortening
2 stiffly beaten egg whites

Sift together dry ingredients.
Combine yolks, milk, and oil; stir into dry ingredients.
Fold in whites, leaving a few fluffs.
Bake.
Makes three 10-inch waffles.

Pssst. Don't forget the powdered sugar!

And finally?

Eat until you literally can't move and then never think about putting on a bikini again.
(Because this is exactly what just happened to me).

Enjoy! :)

I Made It...

... to the beach!

Thankfully I was able to fit [mostly] everything in my Vera Bradley bag, thanks to this ingenious car bar that I bought to transport clothes to and from school. It's so handy... you don't have to deal with folding and unfolding and making stuff fit in a suitcase. Just take clothes out of the car and right into your closet!

This was only a small portion of the hanging clothes I brought...
you don't even want to see how many I ended up bringing!

Best $15 I ever spent... you can get one here. Totally worth it.

Anyways, we got the keys to the house around 4 and I spent the next couple of hours unpacking...

Love the room - it's very sunny!

... and getting everything organized and in its proper place. I even remembered to pack my Lily wine glass, which will be making an appearance later in the week (along with a fun drink recipe!)

The rest of the afternoon was spent biking, enjoying my family, and doing some damage at the grocery store..

Um, talk about junk food! This photo contains all of my weaknesses... Diet Coke.. chocolate covered raisins... Reese's Puffs... TOASTER STRUDELS!!

I am usually a very healthy eater, but on vacation I think it's more than okay to splurge. When I'm at the beach, I want to enjoy what I eat and not think too much about calories or what's "healthy" or "unhealthy". If I want a burger and sweet potato fries, by golly, I'm going to get a burger and sweet potato fries. And maybe even a peanut butter ice cream sundae.

Okay, this was definitely supposed to be a short post, but I have ONE more thing to share with you guys.

My new phone cover came in!

The case was a little thinner than I was expecting, but overall I'm very pleased with it! The colors are vibrant and I love the monogramming. Even though it's not very thick, it's still sturdy and will help protect my little phone (because my phones have always had a "jumping" habit... they always seem to just jump out of my hands... onto hard floors).

If you're thinking of getting a cover.. you should definitely order from Abigail Lee! There's plenty of color combinations and patterns to choose from.

I hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend! :)

A Small Dilemma and an OOTN

I'm so ready I can barely stand it... tomorrow I leave for my family's week-long vacation at the beach!

I haven't really been on "vacation" all summer, so I'm excited to just relax on the beach and not have any responsibilities whatsoever.

This is what I want my week to look like:

My grandfather makes the BEST waffles in the world.. from scratch! With a little butter, powdered sugar, and syrup, it is easily my favorite meal. Let's just say I don't really feel like putting on a bikini after stuffing myself with a couple of those babies..

Haha.

The only dilemma I'm having in regards to this beach trip is.... Packing.

But what's new?

More like... how to fit all of the above multiplied by 243459 into that suitcase. Yikes.

On another note, I went out last night and wore one of the tanks from Anthropologie that I showed in my last post. I trieeeeed to do an "OOTN" but I'm pretty sure I failed miserably. The lighting is dark and... oh well...

Anthro tank paired with a blue bandage skirt (you know how much I love them..) and Michael Kors wedges

Sallie and I!

P.S. These were taken on my phone, apologies if the quality is terrible!

I will be taking my computer with me on my trip.. so be expecting some fun posts from the beach! And this means I can finally catch up on everyone's lives woo! :)

I Can Almost Taste It

What's that I can almost taste? Why, FREEDOM, of course.

My summer class has kept me incredibly busy.. but tomorrow I have my final exam [insert scary music here] and then I'm DONE!

So this post is going to be a quick update of my very boring, not-so-exciting life lately.

Since I received an iPhone for my birthday (bye bye Crackberry), I've been playing Words with Friends nonstop. Seriously... nonstop. It's affecting my sleeping patterns.

Username: cmcoving. Play me. But take this as a warning.

When I've not been working hard at Words with Friends, I've been working hard at school. Uhhh I can't believe I'm about to post this... but...

Reporter standup

... this super embarrassing shot is from one of the packages I made over the weekend. Many of you probably don't know this... but my career goal is to either become a producer or reporter.

And after I'm done working hard... I reward myself with this...

Peanut butter cheesecake the size of my head from Nantucket Grill.

I did manage to do a little shopping, though... and wound up with these two tanks from Anthropologie because they were on sale and, well, I'm slightly addicted to spending money that I don't have (oops).

So since I'm on the brink of freedom, I'm now looking for some post ideas since I'll have more free time on my hands. My question to you is...

What would you like to see more of?

Do you want OOTDs, food posts, fashion posts... something you want me to blog about in particular? I'm looking for ideas and I'm open to anything! :)

Hope you're all having a fabulous week!

Cork & Turquoise..

Two unlikely friends. Maybe? Maybe not.

I love them together. I picked out these two items from J Crew for my birthday.  I fell in love with them in the store!

You can buy this turquoise necklace on J Crew's website... but I can't seem to find this clutch anywhere. Maybe it's new or only sold in stores?

Cork and turquoise products are perfect for summer. They go beautifully together, and when worn with a tan they scream "I'm hot and I'm not even trying." Looking to try out the trend? This season's designers have come out with plenty of my favorites.

Click to make the image larger.

1.Thong Sandal, Nordstrom, $139.95
2. Jack Rogers Cork Sandal, Nordstrom, $178.95
3. Bixby clutch, Kate Spade, $325
4. Cork and 14-karat-gold necklace, Kara Ross, $295
5. Turqoise earrings, Kendra Scott, $100
6. Mia clutch, Couture Candy, $294.25
7. Otylia ring, Kendra Scott, $70
8. "Beach Bum Blu" Nail polish, Essie, $8
9. "Shifting Power" Nail polish, Essie, $8

If you're going to wear both turquoise and cork, the rest of your outfit should be fairly simple. I plan on wearing mine with a loose white shirt, jean shorts, and curly hair.

What do you think of this summer trend?

Hope everyone is having a great Hump Day! I finished my project that was due yesterday... but I only got two hours of sleep that night. Even after a full 8 hours of sleep last night, I'm thinking a nap is in order for today...

21st Birthday!

Well, it's official, you guys! I'm 21!

I wanted to give you a quick update on my weekend, because it was an exciting one. Friday was the big day. After a long day of class and interning, I was ready for some fun!

My friend Audrey and I
My friends came over to my house to get ready and celebrate with me!

Love you Kels!

The night was perfect with a trip to Top of the Hill, more commonly known as "Top O," so that I could order my first drink! TopO is notoriously strict on ID's, so it felt so great to finally be able to get in!

At the bar

Saturday, I drove home to celebrate with my family. My parents and grandparents took me to P.F. Chang's, one of my favorite restaurants! (Sesame chicken, anyone?) I was excited to wear my "birthday skirt" to dinner. This is what I paired with it:

 My wonderful family!!

Afterwards, my family threw me a "Carolina Princess" themed party. It was hilarious... my dad and brother dressed up in button-ups and bow-ties (a Carolina classic). And I loved the color scheme.. Carolina blue and light pink!

They also got me a beautiful cake.. complete with a wand and princess crown to wear!

After cake, it was time for the best part.. opening presents! And let me just say, my family really spoiled me. Yes, they bought me some great presents, but even more than that, they put so much thought and effort into my birthday to make it a special day. I love you guys so much, and it's because of ya'll that I had such an amazing birthday!

I have a huge project due on Tuesday, but afterwards I will be able to post more regularly. I've been so busy with work stuff that it's been hard to find time to blog lately. I miss it! I promise I'll be back soon, though. :)

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

So I know it's been a while since my last post... but when I realized today was Wednesday I knew I had to do a "What I'm Loving" post.

So here's what I've been loving lately....

1. Great friends!
My friends and I at Sarah's 21st birthday (which I talked about in my last post!). What a fun night!

One of my best friends sent me this birthday package in the mail... complete with a cute t shirt and a "spa kit".. and a present that I'm waiting to open until the big day.

2. This Skirt
J Crew
My 21st birthday is Friday and I bought this skirt to wear to our party! I literally just purchased this at the mall, so I haven't figured out exactly what I'm wearing with it yet... I'm thinking heels and a simple top. I'll keep you updated!

3. This Etsy Shop

I was so happy when I discovered Abigail Lee Designs..
Just look how cute these phone cases are!

I'm having trouble deciding which one to order.

Not only does she make phone covers, but she makes plates, iPad covers, coasters, and stationary.
Just choose your color...

And your monogram, and you're set to go.

What's even better than these to-die-for monagrammed beauties?
Why, a discount, of course!
Now through July 31st, Abigail Lee is offering 20% off of everything in the shop.
All you have to do is use the coupon code B073111 when you check out!

4. This treat

These things are the bomb!
I have two favorite foods that go head-to-head for my favorite...
ice cream and peanut butter.
Combine them, and you have a winning combination.
Plus, they're only 150 calories so you can enjoy them guilt-free!

Hope ya'll are having a wonderful Wednesday... Just think, Friday is only two days away!
