The Art of Tailgating.

Who loves college football?

Me, me, me! (So what if it’s mainly for social reasons? Or to rate the football players’ butts…)
Since football season is here, it’s imperative to master the art of tailgating. Starting with…
 1. Gameday Outfit
To me, this is the most important thing I’m thinking about on gameday – what am I going to wear?
This is a classic gameday outfit, meaning it contains all the staples of cute tailgating wear, and is something I’ve worn several times to Carolina games.

As it gets cooler out, scarves (1) are a great option because they keep you warm and they provide that pop of color for whatever team you’re cheering on. Red? Orange? Blue? Gold? They come in every color. I paired this scarf with a simple white tank (2) and high-waisted skirt (3) (which looks good on everyone) and matching earrings (4). Another gameday staple: cowboy boots (5). You’re going to be doing a lot of walking, and these are SO comfortable and cute!
Cowboy boots also look great with sundresses. Look for ruffles (1), strapless dresses (2), and one-shouldered styles (3). When looking for dresses in my school colors, a few of my favorite sites are LuLu’s, ModCloth, and Vestique
2. Accessories
Accessories are also important – you don’t want to be lugging a huge purse around the football stadium!
I recommend wearing a watch (1) so you can keep track of time, and bringing a small crossbody bag to fit your cell phone and tickets in – and nothing else. Crossbody bags keep your hands free and you aren’t forced to put your bag on the stadium floor – which is often gross. Another thing you can add to your outfit is the statement necklace (3). It’s the perfect way to add a pop of your team color to a simple outfit.
Also – don’t forget those sunglasses! It can get pretty bright in the stadium.
3. FOOD!
Perhaps the best part of tailgating is the delicious food. In the south, we’re all about good homecooked football food! And at a tailgate, you want the finger foods to be filling, but also delicious.
First up, pasta salad that’s all about team spirit. At The Pasta Shoppe, you can order collegiate noodles for almost any college team!
How cute is that?!
For some small sandwiches, try these Sassy Tailgate Sandwiches made with Black Forest ham and parmesan cheese.
Recipe found here.
And how adorable are these Football bites made with cheddar cheese and sausage?
Recipe found here.
It wouldn’t be a tailgate without the dip and chips. Bring on the cheddar bacon goodness.

And for dessert…
These mouth-watering dessert bars – containing chocolate (yes), peanut butter (YES), and Nutella (UM YESS!!!!). Somebody please make me these?
Recipe found here.
Of course, I could go on about this forever, buuuut I should probably wrap this up.
Hope everyone is having a great Thursday!
Oh, and I guest-posted about health this morning over at Ashley’s lovely blog, Diary of a Reporter. If you haven’t already, check out her blog (and my post!).

Love, Cait
